From: "Needles Jones" Subject: Hard Liquor Theater/April Edition/April 17th
April showers may bring more than just flowers... some say they are tears from heaven. We are in the middle of Holy Week and Hard Liqour Theater, being the ever so pious group that we have become since our last show, "The 7 Deadlly Sins", are proud to present on Holy Thursday, April 17th *gasp* "He Has Risen....The Mary Magdeline Story...(Erections, Resurrections and the Women behind the Men)".
The evening's pagentry will begin with special musical guest P.T. Lovecraft who, in the great church tradition, will be hawking their new CD which includes that wonderful inspirational song, "Fuck You, Fuck Dracula".
The Thorazine Players will be offering, to the villagers, a modern passion play, "Rebel Without a Cross", the story of a young, brooding Jesus of Nazareth, torn between his feelings of duty and friendship for sexually confused and ambitious Judas Iscariot and the misunderstood and sorely underpaid Mary Magdeline. Starring in this humble and heartfelt tale are Micheal Smith, Tshombe Jabari, Carmen Martella III, Christa D'Agastino, the initmitable Ben Edwards and maybe some others. Oh! Let's not forget! Sister Vulgara Mascara will be spreadin her public health message as well her legs and yours.
Door God, Robert Conner, will be reaching out and sharing his new sketch comedy peice, "The Annunciation", starring the very pregnant Kisa Charles. (Gabe comes back for another shot.)
Also on the Hard Liqour stage offering spritual testimony, will be Spoken Worders Mark Wiles, Chy Spain, Miss Dagmar O'Doom and Alexia Clarke.
After burning himself out in service of the Festival of Independents (presented by Citypaper) Mr. Scott Johnston will be marketing himself available for salvation.
To bring the evenings festivities to a religious fervor, temple dancers Melissa Bang-Bang and Courtney Shea will be showing off their icons.
And, in a moment of compassion, Hard Liqour Theater brings back to the stage Louise Carpino, aka Two Street Tony, who was found wandering the littered streets of South Philly desperately searching for a casino bus.
So that our Jewish friends don't feel left out on the seond night of Passover, we willl be inviting any audience participant to share their own personal cross to bear (no pun intended) during our "A Moment with the Bread of Affliction".
Be a Hard Liqour Evangelist and bounce this message along to your heathen friends!
Hard Liqour Theater Thursday, April 17 In the year of the Lord 2003 9pm-ish Tritone 1508 South St.

Yes folks, Hard Liquor Theater pulls out all of its corks this month with a staged reading of LIZ-istrata. That's Aristophanes' ancient Greek anti-war comedy with a twist: all the female characters will be played by actors portraying the many faces and ages of ELIZABETH TAYLOR. From the doll-faced child starlet in "Lassie Come Home," to the budding ingenue in "National Velvet," to the sexpot in "Giant, and ""Cat On A Hot Tin Roof," to the over-the-top Liz of "Cleopatra," and "Virginia Woolf," and through the Betty Ford Liz and... beyond. ALL the Liz's will be there--vying for centerstage in lurid technicolor! And to carry on the anti-war flavor of the play, all profits from the evening will be donated to a Baghdad theater company. Though the cast list is still not set, rumor has it that some of the Liz's will be played by Sister Vulgara Mascara, Psydd Delicious, Needles Jones and Hattie Hathaway from NYC, to name just a few. Hard Liquot Theater is of course at the Tritone, 1508 South St. Philadelphia. Door: 9PMish And a Pabst and a shot of Jim Beam is 3 bucks for the boozehounds. But what the door charge is, you will have to ask Needles. Oh, and you can SMOKE in the bars there!

Quite a few New Yawkers will be joining me for this Gay and Lesbian Film Fest Party on Saturday July 19 at the William Way Community Center, 135 Spruce Street, 10PM-2AM, admission $10. (21 and over!) Featuring local tranny-rocker Helen Back & The Str8 Razors, movie star/comic Georgia Ragsdale, members of The Queer Filmmakers Collaborative, and by way of the always-late Acela Express, the Dazzle Dancers, Mike Albo, legendary performance artist Reno, the incredible Brandon Olson, and me, Hattie Hathaway. Hosted, of course, by those hard-drinking, anti-Rick Santorum-ites, Needles Jones and Enya Buttox. Music provided by DJ Timothy B (SF.) It's sponsored by Absolut and Yard Brewing (hic) but don't worry, Enya will be drinking responsibly. Needles, however...

Dear Friends of Needles.........On Friday July 25th,, Needles Jones will be celebrating another birthday......and celebrating the triumph of another year on the streets. .And what better way to do this then with a reprise of her Fringe Near Hit...."A LIFE WELL SQUANDERED...THE NEEDLES JONES STORY" Managing to live this long...49years...has not been easy. Needles has been filling up all these years, in a desperate attempt to avoid boredom , by. .being a part of the various pop/cultural and social scenes of the last half of a century. The Beats/ Civil Rights/ Free Love/ Meditation/ Punk/ Rehab/the New Face of the American Family .Telling her story...with anecdotes and songs, both original and severly butchered covers. Needles is also telling the story of America. (sounds a little above her head)... It is Fun!!! It is informative!!! You will laugh...You will cry...You will begin to question everything, She has lived her life without abandonment and performs with the same recklessness. Performing with Needles will be Ben Edwards, on bass, and Jaron Olevsky on keyboards. Also Hattie Hathaway will open the show, elaborating on the sordid, tragic moments they shared as friends, roommates, performers, and co-conspirators over the last quarter of a century.. Come celebrate this miraculous event, against all odds Friday July 25th 8PM...we will start almost on time(8:15)..We have to be done by 10PM Tritone 1508 South St Five Dollars....or more, Needles really needs the money. Pass this on to your unsuspecting friends.

Just received this, Prince Hank...
Attention students...
The parent-teacher association, Headmistress Needles Jones, and Hard Liquor Theater are happy to announce that this Thursday, Aug. 21, the "Harvey Milk-em-dry Queer High School Welcoming Dance Social" will be held at Tritone,1508 South Street. The dance social will be open to all queer students (and the straight students too sensitive to beat them up.) Celebration starts at 9pm.
Refreshments will be available to purchase from the kind folks at Tritone (they have a great $3 PBR and Jim Beam special just for you kids...)
Before the dancing and toe-tapping starts, we'll be warming up with some swell performances by Sister Vulgara Mascara, Lot Six, Mark Wiles, and more! Then we'll be switching the gymnasium around so you can boogie down all night long (until your parents have to come pick you up.) ...You'll hardly recognize it with all the great streamer paper and glitter stars that the School Spirit Committee made to make the night special!
That crazy DJ Psydde Delicious that you kids love so much will be spinning all your favorite pop songs and maybe even a couple of slow songs for you young lovebirds!
Remember to bring your $3 along with your signed permission slip from your parents to come be part of the wild good time!
Remember, the Dance Social starts at 9pm-ish, Tritone (1508 South Street). We'll see you kids there!!

No, Prince Hank, I must hang around the Baked Apple this week, although I am very curious just how Sister Vulgara will follow up her last stellar HLT performance of "Me And Needles Jones..."

I am sorry to say I missed most of the Welcome Dance at Harvey Milk-em-dry as I was held in respiratory isolation at Graduate Hospital. I did however make a daring escape with Xero from PT Lovecraft, and wearing very stylish pj's (flannel with screened prints of high heels), managed to make a brief appearance as headmistress and leave with a fried snickers bar to go....Reports that the evening was a success and Sister as always peed.
