I love the fact that Stephen Saban wound up living in LA. Stephen- do you remember when you were sparring (in writing) with that writer from LA Style and you charmingly remarked that LA Style was an Oxymoron?"

Amber, I've been asking around, and haven't gotten any solid leads on fun CURRENT nights... Last time we went out there, all the big nights were retro. We were retroed out by the end of the trip... What we did find that we LOVED was this Gallery/Shop: La Luz De Jesus GalleryTons of kitch, out of print art books, fetish hardbacks, tiki culture, day of the dead, enough cookie jars to make Warhol crazy etc. etc. The gallery had us drooling all over ourselves. Well worth the drive out of the general Hollywood area. There is also a pretty good costume/thrift shop right next door. HAVE FUN! XXXOOO Satori

Hey, kids. I don't know if anyone cares, but after years of worrying and asking and not knowing and exploring all avenues of inquiry, I finally found Tina L'Hotsky--quite by accident, when I least expected it. She had gone missing, you know. But last night I went to see the Kenny Scharf show at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, expecting to see all the usual L.A. celebs (RuPaul, Ann Magnuson, Vincent Gallo, et al.) and before I could even get past the gallery's front desk I was leapt upon by an oddly familiar blonde in a black leather jacket squealing my name. It took a moment to register. It's been at least--at least!--20 years since we've seen each other, but it seemed as if only 20 minutes had passed. If you don't know who Tina L'Hotsky is, you don't know your N.Y. nightlife history. (OK, I know all of you absolutely do.) Anyway, Tina was the self-crowned Queen of the Mudd Club (the grandaddy of them all) and virtually invented the theme night, which was carried to its absurd extreme at Area. Also, she was one hot chick and possibly the first It Girl of the local cocktail generation. So we can all breath a collective sigh of relief that one more living legend is still living. Kisses, Stephen.
