Went to the ancient ruins of Delos today. Saw many ancient stone phalluses. I miss the old days...

Why it seems that everyone is in the Agean these days! Have you been to Lesbos yet, Darla?

Mykonos is a perpetual runway of the beautiful. It seems that most everyone here walks about the town as if they were on the runway. Attitude is everywhere but surprisingly not too much in the way of cattiness. It is a real pleasure to walk in and out of the various cafe's and nightspots as if this town were one large super club.
It is easy to see why western civilisation first took root here. Conversation flows from topic to topic with great ease as dinners take hours and beer and wine are in great abundance. (hey rose they even have Corona here!)
There are no foolish laws here about dancing or drinking age. The nightlife here is ruled by one principle. HaVE FUN AND DON'T BOTHER ANYONE. NYc could learn a few things from this town. Each cover charge includes the first drink. Only problem thus far noted is that they don't really know how to DJ. Hard breaks and no flow between tracks. One bar's style can only be catagorized as szhitophrenic.

Still it sure beats visiting my dad in florida.

ps I saw Darla last night headed for the ferry with a bunch of lesbians... muttering something about finding a toaster.

Funny you should mention it, but Lesvos is where my Grandmother's family is from. Coincidence?

Forgive my tipsy macdoodle ramblings, but we found this cafe here in Mykonos and I am sitting here with Vulgar Greek in Daddy's homeland drinking Smirnoff Ice (no endorsement, but they are delicious). I love Greece!!
We celebrated my birthday ala Shirley Valentine- but no "we make fuck now." I have yet to have any despicable activities of that nature (a touch disappointed) though Vulgar Greek defiled a young Italian rock star wannabe (thin, blonde, waifish, with a waist 24...bitch).
The Euro tourists are here in full-force. I witnessed (besides lots of poolside quasi-sex with the heteros & homos) this old Spanish crone (with beak nose, canary hair, and Robert Redford school of aging tan) approach this young cute Greek boy at the pool with his very attractive lover with body to kill for (and piece to0- these Euro bathing suits are SO revealing)- "are you alone? Would you like to sit with us." Smart boy he was and responded in English with "no, I prefer here."
We went to Pierros after a glam dinner at Interni (the fashionating South Beach-ish restaurant here). I caused a scandal in my see through Prada dress (thong only underneath) as I made my way to our table. I loved the whole "is she or is she not?". Though we then ran into this Italian Pat Field doppleganger- who we met on the plane- and she said to me "you didn't look like this at the airport." No, I did not, but she did join as at Pierros late for a drink with her gay companion (who we had dubbed the cowardly lion- he was very that).
Vulgar Greek had arranged for me to do a show (completely unplanned), but the DJ cancelled the show (he obviously was not a Dusty nor Barbra fan), because he didn't like my selections. Well, considering he played the SAME music 3 nights in a row (Kylie, Madonna, etc)- who was he to criticize my musical selections on MY birthday. Oh well, I took it well and continued to dance and drink the night away. We ended up at the Yacht Club (the afterhours club here) where we watched the sunrise. It was rather frightening for me who is the vampyric creature when in dragagge. I left my lashes on the table (I had almost sweated them off anyway from dancing all night till dawn anyway = 8am). As we did the Greek walk of shame, the fishermen and assorted villagers greeted my top of the morning with shocked looks of wonderment and yells of 'puta'. We then walked back the very long way, due to our drunken confusion- me ruining my new heels (diamond studded high-heeled sandals bought for the occasion to match the fabu dress), but they can be fixed on my return to NYC.
Thank god the bday celebrations are now over (and I am truly 38 years old) though the manager at the hotel who sent us champagne for the occasion had her jaw drop when I told her my true age- she had said "you are 23?" Of course, Vulgar Greek had already tipped her 100 Euros to say that to me- unbeknownst to me... Oh well, it was nice to hear.
This is our last night here...Daddy your homeland is so wonderful and everybody is so hospitable...just as you and Chi Chi always are.
Another Smirnoff Ice, please...

Another hint from ted quote:
If you get the time... Go to Delos it is a really wonderful archeological site only a short boat ride away. Get the ferry on the other side of the cove near the little shrine to St. Nicholaus (they are doing some new construction there). Wear flat shoes.
Enjoy!

So while here in Mykonos sitting poolside smoking and drinking melon vodka, Vulgar Greek picked up the latest edition of Attitude (the gay magazine for the UK) which featured a cover story about NYC gogo boys, since there is a piece on Marilyn (which was for me, which I devoured as Taboo! is coming to Broadway this fall). Lo and behold, but the story was written by everybody's fave journalist Linda [ L- I - N - D - A ] Simpson (kudos to her), but the story was very well-rounded and gave a good overview of the best and only bargain in NYC- dollar tips to gogo boys, which I have been touting while here in Greece. I still market the city, despite the hideous smoking ban (which she does mention, so kudos to her again!)
Vulgar Greek and I are loving (again) the pleasures that the Greek Isle of Winds has to offer...so many, besides the Ouzo! We are off to our next stop (i.e. cocktail!).

Randella, try again - go to Delos. But: Do NOT use the toilets. Bring Bottled Water and Libations for the gods, (or yourself)! Have a Great time. Enjoy Icarus! LV TnD also, don't miss the last ferry off the island at 3:30pm, or you'll be left counting sheep - real ones!
