I mailed you about the Whitney! give her a big lick for me.

Im back from Molokai,so much to say about that island I'll have to wait till I settle in Seattle tomorrow. Im in LA for the day visiting friends. Molokai was amazing though. Kalapapa ( the leper village) was the greatest part. It is a truly haunted island. It's quite rough though. I had a few run-ins with the local homeboy posse! Guns and all ....but that will come later.

hope all is well in NYC! off to Seattle!

Showing us all how to turn Elsewhere OUT! I'm loving hearing about your vacation! So happy to hear your having a ball (or a pair, I hope). We soooooo missed you in London and wished you could've come, but December looms! Give Gobs a smooch from me when you see him. And come home soon, I MISS YOU!

Oh, I'm so missing you all too! I cant believe how long I'm staying away! But it is turning out to be really worth it. I'm sure London was insane! I was there in spirit! Im in Seattle now and staying with a friend who is a painter and lives in this old converted elementary school. His toilet is so low, its designed for kindergardeners. Getting down on it is one thing but getting up is quite another sweetie. Glad your back safe Nancy! lots o' love!

I don't know about everyone else, but I want a full report from Goblin and Pinto! They are on the Big Island livin' it up. I want details!!! as much as it will torture me to hear about it, I am so happy someone is in my favorite part of the world.

it's late on a rainy saturday night.
late for my little town called pahoa, here in the puna district of the big island - hawaii.
and so i FINALLY take some time at the keys...

this place is amazing. tonight, pinto~ and i went with our housemate andrew and our friend buck (w/ a truck) to see the lava flow into the sea. i've been keenly aware of the power and magic taking place here where all the elements meet each other with such graceful violence. but seeing it in front of me was truly spectacular. even though it oozes it's still hard. (BAH!) if you throw a pebble, it will bounce right off.

there's a gay owned "eco-resort" about 15 miles from my house. they employ lots of faeries and trustafarians. it keeps things around here interesting. they've heard of my skills in the kitchen at our house and are trying to lure me into theirs. if i didn't feel such a strong pull back to tennessee i would think about a new career as an "eco-chef."

pinto~ is driving these queens CRAZY!! some of them forget everything they ever learned when he comes around. and he's using it to his full advantage... free meals at the "eco-resort," massages,... quite the star.

our days start with coffee and maybe a papaya from one of our trees. some yoga and exercise. then we do our housework - 10 hours + $25 for utilities each week is all my friend aden asks of us. with the three of us working, his house is really coming along. if the weather's nice we'll head to the beach. if not, maybe the steam vents - lava rock caves with naturally occuring steam from the lava and water below. (SUPER cruisy!) we get home to watch the sunset with a drink and a smoke and then it's time to make dinner. early to bed, early to rise... it may sound boring but it's working for me.

other highlights...
- jumping off a 30' cliff at the southern most point of the islands/USA.
- seeing a whale breach at that same place.
- playing in the waves like a sea monkey.
- camping at a secluded beach for 2 nights.
- swimming with turtles.
- eating GREAT dinners at home with my boyz.
- LAUGHING all the time.

warm wishes on pacific breezes...

Sounds heavenly, Gobs and not at all boring.
Though I have been to Hawaii scores of times, I have never seen any lava flow. Though I did catch an amazing Don Ho performance once.
As far as Pinto goes, didn't he do all that stuff in NYC? Red Face

Charo's in Hawaii too. She does a show every night. I know you're doing the earthy thing and all... but we're talking about CHARO!

the earthy thing... BAH!
you nailed me.
but wait a minute... you're running a hose with five gallons of water/coffee/vinegar up your ass and calling ME earthy????
check yourself, queen.

but i LOVE charo. my guess is she's on oahu... the island that honolulu and waikiki are on. bigger tourist bucks there than on the big island. if she WERE here she would doubtless play the other side... kona. if so, i would SWIM to see her!!! such a ruler.
sometimes she's playing reno around burning man time. oh, to see that queen live...

glam and hatches... pele IS major. i started feeling/acting strangely as soon as our friend buck came to take us to the volcano. withdrew from the group and got real quiet. (me!! quiet!)
all the tourists there are jumpy and anxious. lots of shouting at us to move out of pictures. (we of course were the closest to the lava flow - getting in the background of all those kodak moments.) but watching waves splash against the glowing orange lava was epic. spewing into the sea, steam drifting up and out across the ocean... wow!

almost no words were spoken in the truck on the way home. our friend aden says that's pretty typical.
