Throughout my travels Ive barely been aware of people smoking, perhaps because Ive dined alfresco so often. I hasnt bothered me in the clubs at all. But here in Paris for the first time I was very concious of it last night as I dined inside and as I nibbled at my salmon every table around me was lighting up and puffing away. I wasnt freaking out or anything. But like many New Yorkers I think Ive become sensitized to smoke more than ever before now that our city is smoke-free. What a wierd feeling to be a New Yorker and feel so .... clean.

Unfortunately I just couldnt muster the stamina to conquer Versailles this morning and see those lovely equestrian students. I really wanted to do it. But I didnt get back to my hotel until 6 a.m., and my flight home is in mid-afternoon, so it didnt work out. Perhaps the next time Im in London I can steal across the channel on the Metro and take in the horses ....

Im told today is some sort of Christian holiday here and that accounts for the high percentage of closed businesses yesterday. Im so clueless when it comes to religious holidays outside of Christmas.

Ah well. Au revoir streets of Paris ....
