saw in the papers to day that when Brooke Astor turned 104 her son refused her a new dress while not fixing up her place either! and honey that woman knows how to dress as good as a drag queen. one of the most generous women in the world with such class. shows you blood isn't everything and money never lasts.
merlin thinks new york city should step in and take care of her as she took care of the city in her own special way!
thank you Brooke Astor, we love you!

turns out she gave almost 200 million dollars away during her career as a philanthropist, to new york city institutions and charities. an amazing woman that set a high example in the art of living.
wish we could all organized a march outside her building in full drags to offer her a dress of from one or ours.

Money is like manure, it should be spread around. —Brooke Astor
What an amazing lady.
I hear that Annette De La Renta (Oscar's wife) is taking over. Brooke will get that dress don't worry. (Actually it's not even a dress, it's a new night gown). And her two little dogs will be let out of the pantry where they have been locked up for months!

When I worked at a very swanky restaurant on 57th and Park Ave, Mrs. Astor would come in as a dinner guest of MOMA's Agnes Gund. I have to say she was an extremely charming lady. A detail I will never forget, is that she ate her dinner wearing paper thin leather gloves. Mrs. Gund came in alot and always had the most interesting dinner guests. Mrs. Astor was such a fabulously "real" person. No pretense, seemed so sincere, and was just very likeable.
