Thanks! I knew Sweetie or Varla would win, those two were not only the best designs they were also very well made considering the time limitations.
Credit must go to them as well as the designers, the conception of the outfit was collaborative. Joe, who Varla's straight designer, also known as Breeedy McBreedpants on a blog I saw last night,, started out with an Elvis suit. Varla referenced a few old movies I'm sure he never heard of and explained the idea of adding this and changing that to make it "nautical". Then the crafty bitch went home that night and made herself anchor earrings (and before anyone says anything, we were allowed to accessorize)
My designer Blayne has a great imagination, he just shot too high for his skill level. I think in a few years he will actually be a great designer, he just needs practice. Everyone everywhere (blogs, my friends) keep saying how awful the "wings" were. I don't think the idea was awful, I just don't think they should have been tucked into a big fat belt. I love the idea of walking around with my own curtain-of-ribbons backdrop. It would need to be constructed more like a showgirl backpiece and hook under the arms or something.
I was a bit surprised at the loser though. Personally I thought Hedda's dress was the worst. It didn't really show in the TV color palette but the gloves were off the rack and really didn't match. It is difficult to design for a six foot humpback (wo)man with faded green hair but Garo whipped up some lovely frocks for her so I know it can be done.
BTW Sweetie, dig up that bitch on MySpace and get her to make you some stuff before she's too famous. She's good!

Thank Goddess for Xtorrent!I downloaded PR and watched it twice last night. So many great moments. Sweetie saying "Ok Baby Girl, bye" wearing sunglasses and a tee shirt and apparently no pants. Sherry Vine being called a chicken (how DARE they!). Missy reading Hedda. Varla's outfit brought me back to the purple pantsuit she destroyed at Messy. And I agree with you Missy that Blayne was not far off making that outfit for you. When I first saw it I was like "That is very Missy!" Too bad the one wing got a little flaccid but whatev. So great to see everyone, congrats ladies!
Also, the skirt fit perfectly at the fitting. It was slightly flared enough not to cling and ride up. When I went to put it on he has added that tight black stripe to the bottom which ruined the fit. It's the sort of thing that normally would be worked out in a fitting. This is a game, not real life design. There's all that pressure of doing it in a day. I would lose or minimize the belt, fix the skirt problem, add some matching sequin arm thingys, and design a better structure for the wings. I actually like the way the black line between the colors matches up to the black line on the wing.

I also thought Blaine did a good job on your cozzie.
I am assuming that Chris March had a hand in the selection of queens? Cause I did think it odd that along with Sweetie, yourself, Varla, Sherry, Betty and even Hedda, there were at least 3 queens that I have never heard of or seen anywhere? Some looked more pageanty, some just seemed very out of their league. And to some extent the designers were only as good as their models..

Finally saw the episode. Werk girls! I liked Varlas a lot, but Sweetie was the show-stopper. I was really surprised that Sherry's designer was not cut. It's funny how the judges thought 'drag' was all about sequins only, typical. But then again , sometimes it's best not to 'win' these kind of shows, i.e. Jennifer Hudson.
Funny how Hedda came out like the complainer. Was she coached to do that?
Bobby darling, here is the definition of hinkty/ hincty/ hinky..one of the words of the year around here. I picked it up on the true crime circuit..
quote:
Random House: A later variant (spelled variously "hincty," "hinkty," "hankty," and finally "hinky"), is described as an underground or police term for suspicious, wary, paranoid, nervous, jumpy, or even arousing suspicion (as in "Something hinky is going on").
Urbandictionary.com describes "hinky" as meaning, among other things, "Something as yet undefinable is wrong, out of place; not quite right."

Wow, so many zingers in that episode. Our little Miss Understood described as "a little Mexican dude". He's so stupid that kid. They don't have Jews in Mexico... (do they?)
He's my favorite. So dumb but so likable. The older gay guy will come in and say something totally demeaning about the kid's hideous frock and the kid will just look at him dazed, not understanding a single word he said and just say, "Thanks, I agree, I think I really nailed it". I LOVE him! That's the way to go through life. Just let the lemons bounce off your dumb head.
My wife got me hooked on this show last season but now I'm really in it.

I love that shot (about one second long) of Sweetie standing in her tee shirt and skivvies. Luckily we have it on TIVO and I can freeze it and enjoy it at my leisure.
