My Lady Aviance,

Kevin, my thoughts and prayers are with you...
As great as the pain of this trauma is, the growth and joy to come will surpass it.

I look forward to seeing you stronger and even more outspoken, this is how the "world" changes.

XOXOXO
A

Just a little note to send you my energy. My thoughts are with you, and I hope you are back on those heels in no time. I'm horrified that this has happened and even more so that it was in my neighborhood -the one I moved to to be nearer to Wigstock.
Love, Dirty

Kevin, dear...

Sending you love and burning good herbs for you! I was just in Wolf Creek, OR for 8 days camping it up, total media blackout...literally just got home and catching up on news of the world - there you are.

On Saturday night, I had a flash of Sylvester and of You pass through my mind. Sitting around cackling and carrying on with about a hundred of our queer brothers and sisters...one particularly beautiful young creature who has taken the name Runway was going on and on, I laughed so hard I could barely breathe. A true talent in YOUR tradition, my dear.

When one of us hurts, we hurt together. When one of us heals, we heal together. We're with you, darlin'.

What a month this has been! When it rains it pours... I'm a straight guy and I can't believe this kind of stupidity and ignorance still exists in the world with regards to Kevin's gay bash. To think this would happen in NYC in East Village of all places!? I really hope Kevin is all right and knows that everyone loves him.

Sending thoughts and love from Virginia. We're horrified about what has happened, and find it terrible that no one helped you when you needed it most. Please know there are lots of people out here who love you and care about you- even if, like me, you have never met them. Blessed be.

Hi Kevin
my name is Sonia I came upon your story by total accident im a shihtzu (dog)breeder I breed little fluff balls of totally hugs and kisses. I was having such a wonderful morning when the newspaper I was pulling out to put down for my pups I spotted you all beaten.

I read the paper then logged onto the Internet to find out more.

It makes me FREAKEN sick that some people are such cowards that they have to jump people so make them selves think they are MEN.

im 5.1 maybe 110lbs i a girl born and raised straight girl with full blooded Portuguese parents that would kick my ass if i ever disrespect anyone no matter who they where. and i am raising my daughters that same way with respect

And let me tell you anyone who drove by and didn't stop to help is just as much assholes as the people that did that to you cuz if I would have saw that they would have caught a nasty beaten off a girl they would have turned gay them selves. FREAKEN pisses me off. i hope those people that didn't stop to help never need help them selves some day, what goes around comes back 7 fold

my cousin marco is gay he is my best friend and one tough guy i would LOVE to see them try something like that to him with me around i dont care if your gay or not freaken cowards you dont jump anyone and yet sucker someone in the back of the head to me anyone who fights like that is nothing but a scared wanna be gangster. and once they are in jail they cry like a bunch of bitches.

we send you shihtzu kisses
get better soon.
love Sonia and the Nanuke shihtzu family

Kevin:
Many wishes for a speedy recovery and a return to being fabulous.
Your light can not be dimmed by the ignorant, the cruel, or the evil that walks amongst us.

Kevin, I hope you are improving rapidly and do not let what happened dampen your bright spirit. The following is an editorial I sent and hope will be printed in reaction to what happened to you. There is no punishment strong enough for those boys; my only hope is that they get prison time and find out how weak they really are... Blessings for a quick recovery and a return to even more success than you knew before...

***

The recent vicious attack on singer / performer Kevin Aviance was brutal and unprovoked, and the individuals who did this should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. There is no justification for this horrifying act, there is no way to explain the feelings behind these actions that could possibly justify what these people did. If these young men did not approve of Kevin's look, or lifestyle, or work, or way of talking or walking, does that matter? One person (let alone four) has no right to touch another simply because they don't like what they represent - what made them feel they could attack him? (And why were only four charged when six or seven people were involved in this cowardly attack?)

If you don't like a song or film someone releases, don't listen to it – don't watch the film. If you don't approve of a lifestyle, stay away from it. If you disagree with something your state or federal leaders do, do you then go beat them nearly to death? What makes these young men and others like them feel they have the right to judge, much less harm, another person for being different than they are? Gay or straight is not the issue. Personal freedom and diversity and tolerance are the issues.

Young people are given so much freedom; they can look and act with much more independence than their parents could. Why would they then judge someone else for being individual and unique? Kevin harmed no one; entertained legions, and is a testament and inspiration to us all to just be who we are. It is an abomination that this happened to someone who only brings joy and music and entertainment to so many. All of us should be free to be who we are, as long as our lifestyles harm no one, and not have to live in fear of assault for our choices. Our soldiers fight and die for us daily so that we in this country – all of us - can be free to enjoy a full life, lived as we feel best meets our needs without harming others, and the beauty of our nation's people and our collective soul is in its celebration of diversity and our appreciation of our right to be unique.

The one positive thing that I can hope will come of this is that people who had not heard of him before this attack will find out how talented Kevin Aviance is, and will support and seek out his music, attend his performances, and that prompt prosecution of these attackers (resulting in serious prison time) will make others think before acting against another innocent individual as these men – boys – did. If they go to prison they may just find out they're not really as ˜bad' as they think they are! And hopefully onlookers to any future assaults will be quick to call for help. I hope that Kevin does not let this terrible event slow him down but instead, finds even more passion to perform, to make sure that above all else, this talented performer will prove to the world that the Show Must – and Will - Go On!

Kevin I am sickened and saddened by what has happened to you. When I came into the office this morning and read the article I was just torn. Man, I don't feel the drag thing but I respect the music and the individuality that you bring. I bought "Box Of Chocolates" years ago and I just played it the other day. Man my deepest prayers go out to you. NO ONE AND I REPEAT NO ONE should have so much hatred. To the stranger that took you to the hospital, MUCH LOVE to him. Man, I just don't know what to say. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. Kevin "Muthafuckin" Aviance GET WELL SOON and do what you do best. BE YOU! I got much love fa you man. U are constantly in my prayers daily for a speedy recovery. This has made me think long and hard about the difficult life we live in.

Vybe!

Good evening Kevin,

I have to admit, I have never heard of you before but, when I came across the story of the senseless and ignorant act of violence against you, I was saddened and angry at the same. We are ALL different, and just because someone may not like the way someone else dresses, talks, acts, or lives gives them NO excuse to express themselves with such violence. I am sorry to hear what happened to you, but I am grateful to know that you made it through Alive!

I just wanted you to know that I will pray for you and your recovery. I will also pray for your attackers and others out there that have the same ignorant and selfish attitude. They have no idea what they have done, not only to you but also to themselves. Be strong Kevin, and know that for everything bad thing that happens, something equally, and sometimes even greater good will happen.

Be blessed,

PriteeRedBone - Dallas, TX

A Manhattan singer was taunted and beaten early yesterday by a group of young men who shouted anti-gay slurs and then broke his jaw as he walked in the East Village, the police and the singer's publicist said. During the attack, the singer said, no bystanders came to his aid.

I am so sorry about what happened to you. You are beautiful, and should be proud of who you are. I just could not believe, well I know there are very ignorant people out there, but for someone to do something so heartless. I have thought about you alot, and wish you a fast recovery. You are in my prayers, and heart. Stay the beautiful person you are and everything will be alright, you have alot of people who care, and who pray for you.

Lots of hugs, get well wishes, and be strong!

Damn!! I've gotten harrassed by kids recently too. I wonder if all the publicity trannies have been getting in the media lately has had a backlash among the young. They're so messed up about thier sexual identity that anything outside of their little clique is considered perv.
Also, I wonder if some super macho Gillette type of rap singer (I use that word carefully) has popularized an anti gay thing recently.
Kevin, take Arnica (homeopathic remedy for trauma) and get better.
Love,
Judy Vee

This form Mother Juan Aviance:

quote:
I would like to thank The Motherboards community as a whole for all the well wishes for Kevin to have a speedy recovery. It is moments like this that we see the power of good vs. evil but let's not turn our positive energy into evil. Can we figure a way to get our message across that we will not tolerate this behavior without showing our counterparts the same evil? I think we can fight fire with fire and not turn into the very monsters that do us wrong time after time... "Don't you?" It's a very hard thing to balance but in the end many blessings will follow, "this I have learned." Please believe I'm sick about this but if we go about this the wrong way we will have learned nothing, but have gained more hatred in the world and that we don't need!

"Revenge feels good for a minute but then you leave chance for hatred to go on forever...... You do the math"
- Mother Juan Aviance

HOW IS KEVIN?
Kevin is doing better and as each day passes he gets stronger and stronger. With so many emotions running high he has expressed to me how grateful he is for all your love and support! Kevin thanks YOU ALL with tons of kisses on top! He has been surrounded by flowers, cards, friends, Dr's, police and everyone in between but his spirit has gone undaunted and that's important. He says at times he's overwhelmed but it seems as soon as the tears start coming...... a bouquet of flowers, a card or a simply phone call from a friend makes things a bit more bearable. Please know it is your prayers that have contributed to Kevin's already strong soul, HE IS THANKFUL and promises after his recovery He'll be back STRONGER then ever and shining like the STAR he IS!
