As far as I know Miss Pepper is still alive torturing (God Bless her). She was planning something big last I heard. Probably a gigantic ball in which EVERYONE would have to attend and then she would pull a "Carrie". Good question though. I'll check up on her and let you know.

Received the following from Wolfgang Busch this weekend:

Saturday:

quote:

Dear Ballroom members-

I would like to inform you that Pepper Labeija is in the hospital with an infection. He is taking medication and is feeling better today. Tomorrow he finds out how long he will be staying in the hospital.

After speaking to him briefly a few moments ago he told me that he is running out of money and that he has money only for today to pay for a television rental. It is $5 a day to rent a TV at the hospital.

Please show your support and give Pepper a call to help him pay for phone and basic needs. 212-420-3714.

Thanking you in advance

artistically yours,

Wolfgang

Sunday:

quote:

Dear Ballroom members,

I went to visit Pepper today in the hospital and he is doing only ok. He is in a lot of paine and is taking strong medication.

I bought him food, he wanted chicken and mashed potatoes and I gave him some money.

Several people wanted to know how they can make a contribution to help pay for Pepper's expenses. Pepper gave me his mailing address so you can mail your contributions direct to him.

Pepper aka William: Please mail to:
William Jackson
790 Concourse #2B
Village West
Bronx, NY 10451

Pepper asked me to thank the people that have contacted him at the hospital and god bless you all.

Artistically yours,

Wolfgang

Dear Ballroom members and supporters,

On behalf of Junior Labeija I am inviting you to the memorial ceremony of Pepper Labeija at the LGBT Community center in New York City, located at 208 W 13th street between 7 and 8 avenues, from 7 to 8PM in room 301 on the third floor on Thursday, June 12th.

Please no photography or video taping during the memorial.

Thank you.

oh, i WISH i could make it to the memorial to pay my respects.

...well, hopefully, if anyone from the Motherboards does attend this, they can represent all of us that couldn't make it there.

I called her when she was in the hospital, and told her that I fell in love with her when I was 12. She was so sweet.(She had a wonderful voice-I loved hearing her talk). I loved her because she was proof to me that no matter where you came from,no matter what you had to do to survive, you can always hold your head up and be Fierce and too Fabulous for words.

Simon called me to find out about Pepper's memorial. I told him to keep checking the Motherboards... I guess he did. I told him to post here but he's shy. I wish he would, he's very funny. The article is really really good, a MUST READ.
although...
there are a few things I question. I wouldn't necessarily believe everything that Miss Pepper claimed to invent. And I'm pretty sure the 4th Xtraganza in that Barney's show was Louis ("Truth or Dare" fame). They boys were really good. I have a video of it. It's fab. They were so handsome and "on" that night.
I also had forgotten about Pepper's "Egyption extravaganzas". They were amazing.
and one more thing I just remembered...
JoJo Field used to do the best impression of Pepper. (ever since he was chopped at one of her balls).
