This past week the "Scene" lost a true icon!! Cal (Mark Chamberlin) aka JudgeCal was found dead in his apartment of natural causes. When people talk about the good old days in clubbing, they are speaking of Cal!!!! He started out in the "Industry" in -1985 at Danceteria; worked at The World, Limelight, Crobar from almost the beginning to the very end, and everywhere in between. He was the rarest of breeds in the "Industry", he was a friend to all, never had a negative word to say about anyone, and was not a hater. He was a model, punk rock artist, a CNN correspondent, and a huge supporter of Burning Man among other things. Last week we lost a friend, a pioneer, and one hell of an individual.

I met Cal in -1985 at Danceteria, worked with him at The World, Limelight and Crobar from almost the beginning to the very end.
He was he a kick-ass bartender, a great guy and knew a hell of a lot more about music than I ever did!
I'll miss him.
