I am one of many kids who is friends of Mother Flawless Sabrina. Scratch that- Jack Doroshow. He is a creative, loving, kind, cool, and REAL human being. We started a tagsale at his apartment in the belief that art should not only be owned by the rich and powerful, but that there should be a continium of that spirit of art, which has throughout history manifested itself from the hands of poor artists. I can be a savvy business person, bt Jack has taught me that it is not about the price but the outcome. Many people have been so happy about their purchases. "Who would have dreamed I'd own a Basquiat", a recent (kid) buyer told me. That is why the tagsale is happening. As for Messy Bonnie Rate (or Johnny Dynel) he, though claiming to be a big supporter of both 'our' community and Jack, has not only not been up to the tagsale, but hasn't visited the apartment for years. I can only assume that this whole business about fake art is character assination at its most dissapointing for the purposes of keeping this 'community' board active. Johnny has informed me that he did 'it' because he's scared that Sabrina and I have a drug problem. Lame excuse- for the record we don't, and to qoute Bill Burroughs "a man's personal business is his personal business." Attend to your house first sir, then you may enter mine and inspect it! Finnaly, this whole pig-trough feeding on something that is intended to really help the community dissapoints me greatly. I have aways beenan avid supporter of nightlife 'legends' because I felt they deserved that respect and support. I'm glad to see that I've been the fool- that my respect has been paid back in such a hurtful way. BUT...'Sabrinas' tagsale is the real thing. Please stop spreading rumours about it because it is meant to make others happy and to continue a tradition in art and art selling. If you have any respect for your 'community' do that much, not for Jack, not for me, but for the artists who created the works and for kids who would have no other way to buy it. Dissapointed and let down. Rami
Rami, I don't know you or don't know Jack but just reading this thread... I find it 'un-usual' for anyone to sell such big name art from their home when they could sell via a art dealers or auction house. What's the reasoning behind that - surly if it were all appraised you could fetch a mighty wad that could greatly help folks even more? No? Sabrina is rather lucky to have so much art in her collection I guess it's rather hard to believe.
Sabrina's existence is very hard to believe. Check out her history. One of the things that is particularly ugly for Jack is that this is all going on behind his back. If you have any questions call Jack at **********, and hear it from the horse's mouth.

Rami, I don't know why you want to bring this all out in public like this (as opposed to writing to me privately like I did to you) but that choice is yours honey. Bring it on. I've always liked you (and still do). And I LOVE Mother Sabrina. But you are both acting like crack heads. OK, there I said it. You say you don't have a drug problem, I hope that's true. I don't see it.
As far as some club kid owning a Basquiat... sure. Where did you or Sabrina get a Basquiat? I was friends with Jean Michel, I never saw you.
And how was it signed? Was the name spelled as well as mine? (There are 2 "L's" in Dynell)
Selling memorabilia from a legend like Sabrina is one thing but trying to sell "Basquiat paintings" to club kids is another. I've been involved with selling/buying Keith Haring paintings. It involved his estate, validating the paintings, their provenance etc. It was complicated.
And Anna Nicole is right. If Sabrina has all this art why doesn't she contact people (like an auction house or a dealer) who can get her big bucks?
Nothing against you Rami but I don't think you are in that league.
Again, I don't know why you want to bring this all out in public but it's fine with me.
(and if you want this all deleted that's fine too)
I guess that didn't answer my question.... why sell the art at such a low price in a home when you could sell it for a hell of allot more, have it validated etc. It would work out allot better for you and 'the community' would prosper more. That to me doesn't just seem odd but foolish business really....just a suggestion for what it's worth.
Well, there are a great many reasons one might want to sell artwork "privately" besides the reasons that Rami mentioned... after all who wants to pay even more money to this rotten government of ours than they already do.
As far as drug usage goes-- and I am not saying that there is any involved here-- people will do drugs whether or not they are scolded, ostracized, threatened with prison or a death sentence, and whether or not they have money for them or any way of obtaining that money-- just log onto Craig's List at 2 in the morning!
My thought is that the "Tag Sale," for some reason, has gone on for too long. Maybe I am wrong, but Sabrina doesn't have an endless store of pictures for sale... and the Sale has gone on since late January. Therefore, either people are not buying and just looking (in which case, why not open a museum in your living room and make a salon of it?) or the people that come cannot even afford the extremely discounted prices whatever they may be.
In running the sale for this long it has taken on an aura of desperation, which is probably what has led to many comments that may be construed as "negative."
I might suggest, Rami, if you and Mother continue this sale much longer, you might consider posting notice of it in "Club Classifieds." Just a thought.
And it is never a good idea to publish real phone numbers on the Web, for obvious reasons, unless it is an actual place of business-- a commercial establishment-- and even then...
What the heck are you doing? You sound like you're out of your mind. Get a grip or get help or both.
I'm frikken afraid to go visit Jack now that I've been through your posts. Finish school, get a real job and drop this nonsense. You are hurting yourself and my friend Jack.
look, I don't want to fight with anyone and I have a lot of respect and love for Sabrina. If you say you have Picassos and Basquiats and Warhols and Diane Arbus photographs... Great. I believe you. I hope the community makes a lot of money.
Just my two cents: As far as "fake art" is concerned, J. Dynel would know something about it. He was THERE when alot of the art was being created! Visiting studios and pal-ing around. NOT as a fellow-druggy, but as a friend and insider.
What's behind some of this is: the provenance of some JM Basquiats is HIGHLY suspect.
To start, in his heyday JMB painted up a complete storm, and gave paintings away to pay for drugs.
One of these drug-dealers I knew personally was also a painter who copied JMB's work, and he eventually sold fakes to Basquiat's dealer at the time. Her name was Annina Nosei, and whether she knew what she was buying was fake, or not, who can say. At one point she did stop buying from the drug-dealer/hoaxer.
Years later, one of these fake Basquaits went for over half a million dollars at Sotheby's/or Christies.
There's another well-known poet/painter who ALSO copied JMB's work. So that makes TWO painters I knew personally who copied his work. There were probably more. So it seems the fakes are so well-embedded in JMB's entire body of work.... These fakes from the time of JMB, probably have their own provenance!
I mean I watched the dealer and JMB painting JMB's together... so you have to say, JMB rather enjoyed/validated the hoax.
Madame Flawless has the right to sell paintings from her home. Why give a dealer 50% and pay taxes on it? But at the same time, given the JMB scandale, I wouldn't buy one of those at a 'discount' for anything. For all we know, and what JD might not be detailing here, there could be a new hoaxer out there imitating his work.

S'tanley, As usual your perspective is right on the money. Annina Nosei was my art history professor. We became friends. I remember that whole scandal with the "drug dealer". It was pretty juicy but not nearly as juicy as the "poet/painter" scandal. Those were the days! I'm glad we can still have a good old-fashioned art scandal.
Ahhh, public forums. Talk about crack. I got an ass for a cunt and vice versa. My girl is perfect in every way. "Drugs are an inanimate object and therefore niether good nor bad so long as the person using them doesn't think it gives them license to be a complete asshole."--FZ Lezzy Faire for my baby. My art's real, I made it myself. If you love something, that makes it real. Still Flawed, Curtsy
When ever I have been at Sabrina's home and there have been many visits, I have seen a lot of art. Some good, some bad, some by real well known artists, some by unknowns and even some that appeared to be fake. I don't really care what she sells. If people are stupid enough to buy fake art then too bad. I adore sabrina and I don't think she has a mean or dishonest bone in her body. But it has sure given eveyone something to talk about and God knows we all love that.
