FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MR. BLACK IS BACK
On June 20 the dance den and clubhouse MR. BLACK begins its second journey into New York nightlife. Boasting a full cabaret license, we will once more hold court in a dark, cavernous underground bar, now in Manhattan's Flatiron District. Featuring a full schedule of wildly experimental nightly parties, MR. BLACK remains fiercely independent and defiantly unique.
The original MR. BLACK opened in January 2006 and was an immediate hit – an all-inclusive dance den for all walks of life, fun, wacky and unpredictable. When the venue closed abruptly in August 2007, its wildly devoted followers were left stranded in a diminished nightscape. With its reopening as a fulltime venue, MR. BLACK resumes its infamous weekly parties including TUBWAY and GARY 49, and its mission.
"We are here for those who want to dance, have fun or get it on. We believe that music is the soul of nightlife and base our principles on the 80's and 90's but do not live in the past. Our cutting edge soundtrack is the very heart of the club – think cross genres, cross genders and everything in between. In a scene that has become apathetic with dwindled ideas, and few choices, we strive to once more ignite the public's imagination. We are proud to present nightlife in all its diversity, fostering new talent and pushing the envelope, all with a sense of humor."
MR. BLACK will be open six nights a week with its signature basement feel, saucy staff, strong drinks, pumping sound system and infamous cocktail servers including THE ASS. The opening roster of DJs and hosts includes SAMMY JO, THE TRINTY and JOHNNY DYNELL (Fridays, GARY 49), NITA AVIANCE and GANT JOHNSON (Saturdays, TUBWAY), JONNY MCGOVERN (Thursdays), SOPHIA LAMAR (Wednesdays) and SPENCER PRODUCT and DAN CACIOPPO (Sundays).
