congratulations to you both hattie and joe - there was good loving energy in that space last night - and so many faces from past and present - hope to hang when I get back from the wild west..
See that 'glowing orb' above taboo's head? These show up a lot in digital and analog photography - mostly at partys or funerals, from what Ive heard. some argue that its 'dust' on the lens or some digital artifact. but Ive seen cases where three consecutive shots were taken and the thing was in each shot - but in a different place! I shot a show last week w/no flash - and it still showed up on the picture... anyone else ever shoot these things!? I think they happen only at the most fabulous of times...

a bit off-topic, I know - but here's a whole crowd of them - really good ones - above this adorable cutie. doesnt look like any 'lens flares' Ive ever seen... maybe some experts can weigh in..
personally, I think its bleed-through from an alternate dimension. and they're attracted to whimsy and fun crowds, although I have seen them in graveyard photos too. I remember seeing them in party shots, photos from night of 1000 stevies, and always, ALWAYS at radical faerie gatherings outside where the flash was the only light around. if you look close they are really detailed and always look different..My brother is a photojournalist in South Africa, and last year was going on and on about them (he said there is a local word for them -'ugens' or 'thingys'...and how neither he nor any of his buddies can explain their presense...

Well it definately was "one of those nights". A Family night. Like a wedding or a funeral or a reunion. Those orbs could be A LOT of different people who have moved on.
1) Art L'Hommedieu? 2) Adam Goldstone? 3) International Crysis? 4) Baby Gregor?
Those are my guesses. (I based them on who could read)
Anyone else?
And thanks for the hot pics Jade. You look good BTW.
Thank you ALL so much for turning such a fierce evening. Not to go on and on, but it was truly a family night out. Everyone looking gorgeous (Anna Nicole sporting Operation Rapture junta gear - I was gagging). I was utterly speechless throughout much of the evening, I must say. It was like that old show This Is Your Life: ALL my New York family, family from Atlanta, New Orleans, L.A.
Jade, you and Daddy are right on point about the orbs. This building, erected in 1910, housed not only the dark and goth doings of Korova, but for many years prior was home to the Community Mental Health Center. I had some old Shoshone and Mohican friends come into the space and wake up the spirits that have been hiding here for so long; we did a lot of ritual down in our basement (quite a few hidden nooks and crannies down there) letting them know we were ready for them to move on and not attach themselves to Rapture. Afterwards, our space just opened up, felt much lighter and the transformation in just one week was astounding. The orbs are evidence of the company with whom we were keeping - joining in the party! Seen sporting Orbwear: Adam Goldstone, Willie Ninja, Nick Dorst, Seattle's Togo Jack, James Kondas, Page, Klaus Nomie, Chrysis, Marsha P. Johnson, my Cherokee grandfather Harry Stephens celebrating what would have been his 93rd birthday...
I so look forward to hosting you all in the years to come. Hattie, which goes without saying, is a dream come true to work with again. And, looking over the smart, cultured crowd of friends, family and all manner of freaks (with Debbie reigning supreme and anointing me with her personal lip gloss wand) the other night in this gorgeous new space, I realized that this is what goes on in my head all the time - now manifested in reality.

Ah yes, the orbs. Nearly every pic from every photographer at the Rapture party has them. Indicative of the spirits that I could feel were present. No matter who they were... they were ours! And not left over from the bar that was there before.
Wow! Finally getting some time to post about what was an incredible evening. We had just been at a full-dress Venetian Ball elsewhere, and we felt great coming back home to Ave A. It was a divoon crowd then and I know we missed alot of people. And the STAFF! Perfection.
Hattie, Joe, you have given alot of people a new year filled with hope. Brava!
ps Joe, I didnt know you had Cherokee blood (Birdsong, duh) but that makes so much sense.
The Orbs! I have seen them many times. I have photos of my teacher Hilda with them in every picture. It is truly a blessing. I wish I could have been there.
I was remarking to Rob on just that same little feeling of uplift Empress mentioned.
I just felt kind of wildly delighted, especially when my own mind started to play some 'Jackie Hustle' which I somehow kept expecting to hear in the presence of so many long-time friends. The place was foaming with a lot of happiness.
