I think you may be interested in the amazing exhibit of Richard Avedon's fashion and portrait photos from 1944-2000 now at the International Center of Photography located at 1123 Avenue of the Americas on the corner of 43rd Street.
You have a lot of time to see it since it will be up until September. Avedon pioneered fashion photography in the 50's and 60's and then branched out with a fascination for the poets of the LES and assorted demimonde habitues.
