I have not been in this forum in soooo long.
It is nice to see that it is still (sorta) going.

Wondering if there are any musicians or sound FX artists in here that would be interested in collaborating with me on my new show...
I did a reading a few monthss ago and now feel that I have whipped the darn thing into shape.
I am learning liness as I type...

There are about 5 new songs in it that I have been rehearsing accapella. I am looking for anyone who can create/change a mood with noise... The less technical requirements the better.

After two apartment moves, starting a business and falling in love since I was last in the spotlight...My new years resolve is to get my fake pussy back out onto the stage. Funny how when you do not go out in a long while the parade moves to another block... thus I am running to catch up.

Blessings to all.

Derrick, Cheers to you doll. It sounds like you been busy. Can't wait to see what you've been doing when I come to the city in Feb. Btw I understand Messy Bonnie can really make some noise with her butthole. Maybe you could get her to "back" you up.

Hey there stranger!
Nice to hear from you. I had the pleasure of eating sushi with Jamie Casertano earlier this week and you took a beaming spot in our conversation. It sounds that the PTown is treating you both well.

I hope I do get to see you in February.
It has been too long.

Cheers Derrick,

I was so very thrilled to see your post and that you are busy working on new material. I don't think I will ever forget watching your Tell Tale Art act at the slipper room in 2002. I was so very inspired and entertained by your performance ability as well as the content of the piece itself, which you had written. And, yes my breath has since been taken away each time thereafter when I've had a chance to catch you onstage since that first encounter.

And of course I have questions about your new endeavor!!!!

Are you currently writing songs only?
Are you looking to work with a musician or a noise artist?
What sort of instrumentation would complement this new work?

Hey there Back at YOU Tonya!
How in tarnation are you???

Yes, I have been working on FINISHING a solo piece called HOLY WATER that is now OFFICIALLY wrote! (now I am memorizing the bloody thing!)
It runs about 75 minutes and has been quite a trip so far! Funny how (like many artists, I am sure) I have no problem writing every day but I do have a problem writing on ONE Topic! Or completing a linear work ... this piece has been in process for about 6 months and I recently completed (my first) class for creating a solo-show at the Ensemble Studio Theatre (EST) that really helped me to hammer it into shape.

It is a piece that documents my quest for "spirituality" there's alot of autobiographical stuff and a lot of dark comedy, a few characters and a few "folky" Dylan-esque songs.

I did an informal reading about 3 months ago as well as performed some excerpts back in Sept. at SMUT night @ Galapagos...but it has really grown since then and now I have been in process of sending submissions and packets to a few festivals... (Thank GOD for the Holidays so I can get this type of grudge work done! lol) AND my grudge work is paying off because this morning I just was granted a workshop at an ACTUAL THEATRE!!! in Hell's Kitchen for February 2006! I'm still in shock! (Bobby Miller, it is in FEBRUARY! so you can come!)

Now for your questions:

Nope, I'm not only writing songs but I have written a buttload over the past few months!

For this show I am hearing dirty organ music..sort of warped southern church hymns.
The 4) songs I have in the show are all sort of different - two are ballads/one is total camp and one is sort of like the centerpiece - it is about the Tsunami that hit a year ago and I want it to sort of feel like a wave crashing over me...

As far as the music for the songs I want something that fits behind the vocals - my songs are very lyric-driven and I want the words to be heard clear..

The melodies are all done and since I've only sang/rehearsed thhem accapela I am very interested to see how they can grow with music!

As for "noise" I am looking for acccompaniment throughout the text of the piece as a way to change the mood from section to section...

As I wrote in my first entry here - I have missed performing, but had a great many "life things" that needed attention...money...home...love..etcetera.
I was also ready to do something bigger than a 5 minute slot in a club...(easier said than done!)

In a nutshell- I turned 30!
And I think 33 is gonna be a GREAT year.
I welcome more of your comments and would love to know what you've been up to!

XO-

d

thirty is nuttin honey, 44 can hurt tho. and yes even you could get a stalker at 50! you are now at your prime, a full blown adult with all his/her faculties developed in hardship and struggle, the crucible from which we all came.

Merlin quit going out for 20 years, from 1975 to 1995. That was when Mr. Miller invited me out again, and yes, Merlin found the party right where he left it. like it never stops?

welcome back, your private life is as important as anything you could want to explore and develope. keep us all posted.
