Ive just heard that Safari users are having trouble posting images lately. If you have priveliges to post attachments (Board Member of Moderator) and havent been able to lately, PLEASE post what browser and OS you are using.

We are putting in a support ticket at Infopop and want to see which users this is affecting. We apologize for the glitch and will work diligently to get it sorted out.

Thank you all for your reports. The bug report was submitted and was confirmed by Infopop as a glitch in the last update of the Eve/Ubb.x software. They are working on a fix for us and all the other thousands of Mac users on the 30,000+ Infopop communities. We'll keep you posted here!

Hi there-

I may have isolated and fixed the bug myself. Without boring you with geektalk, I changed some of the the permissions for this (THE HELP FORUM) and I am now able to post images using Safari and Mac OS 10.x.

If you have the permissions to post images -
(are a paid-up Board member or moderator) -
and have been having a problem, please try to reply to this thread and post an image upload (of any kind) here. You can delete your reply immediately if you dont want to leave the picture up.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

When you hit the "paper clip icon" at the top of this navigation bar, and go to the "Choose File" radio box, select your file for upload. It's name should appear next to "Choose File"

DO NOT hit the "OK" button that is under it - that applies to the "File Description" box only. That will upload nothing to the server, and you will think your upload has failed (cause it has!)

DO hit the "Post Now" button at the lower right of the message window. That is all you need to do to upload the file named in your "Choose File" section.

Please at your convenience do this test if you were having problems before, and do let us know in this topic how this worked.

As soon as we verify that this works for at least a few of you, we'll go through and change permissions for the other forums - probably take about 8 hours from the time we start.

Thanks for your help in bringing this to our attention and hopefully getting it solved.

Okay, first responses were positive enough so Im sure this works!

If you have the right permissions to upload attachments, you should now be able to in all Public Forums. If you are using Safari, pay special heed to my instructions above and skip the "OK" button!!! Honest!

Private forums like The Baldwins and Mods and Rockers are more problematic, and image uploads with safari/Mozilla will take a few more tries to set permissions for. But anywhere else on the boards, you should be able to upload pics to your hearts content -
as long as they are 200k or under.

Hi bobby

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Have you changed browsers or setups lately? Because I do note from the above discussion that you were able to post images before. Please post what system version and browser you are using - and if it is Safari, be sure to follow the above directions EXACTLY.

If you are using another browser/system, please post it here. We are not getting reports of any system-wide problems posting images, and have had no recent software upgrades, so we have to find out why you are having trouble now.

Katrina..I am using OS 10.3.5 and Safari. I haven't changed anything. I think I am doing this right. 1) Post reply 2) click on paper clip icon 3) select file to upload 4) Do not click on "ok" but instead click on Post Now. Nothing happens. Any advice? Thanks hons. Bobby

Hey Bobby! Are you sure your images are small enough? I can't remember what the exact size limit is, but I think they need to be under 80K, otherwise the attachment won't, well... attach.
And if you are working on a dialup like me, the whole process can take several minutes, during which time it seems like it's a no-go. Hugs, girl!

That size was increased to 200k, systemwide.

bobby-

Please also check that your images are either .gif or .jpg

These are the only graphics formats that the system will take. Other than that and Hattie's suggestion, I am stumped, but I will poke around the Infopop forums and see if anyone else is getting this problem. I'll post again soon, meanwhile do let us know if any of the above suggestions worked.

My dear-

Here's how you do it:

Click the Avatar "Edit" link in your profile, as you've been doing. You will see a
"Custom Avatar" link above the standard avatars to choose from. Click that link and it will take you to another page, where you have two choices.

You can type in the URL of your new avatar, or
(new with this software version) upload your avatar directly to our server, as long as it is 48 x 48 pixels.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry you had to wait so long for help, but Kat is away and Ive been recuperating from New Years.

Thanks Chi Chi, but there is no "Custom Avatar" link above the standard avatars on my edit page. Nothing there besides clip art avatar choices.
