Happy New Year and All That Jazz, from your hard-working Administratrix. Today we've gone live with a new forum CONVERSATIONS WITH MYSELF, to bring together all the bloggers, journal-keepers, and one-person topic aficianados on the Mboards.
Moderating the forum is pioneering Mboards Blogger MESSY BONNIE RAITT. (Be Afraid!)
Its located in our BONUS FORUMS category, right under the QUEENMOTHER FORUMS on the main Category List.
Another project I have been working on for a while went live tonight. This is THE ENDLESS NIGHT forum, which contains all of the memorial topics and discussions of current deaths. I have moved many of the discussions of "nightlife's Dearly Departed" from many corners of the Boards - please let me know if I have missed a topic.
Instead of needing a separate classifieds for the QUEENMOTHER.TV FORUMS, we have renamed our CLASSIFIEDS and moved them to the BONUS FORUMS category. All classifieds - including roommates wanted, and "Looking for a Drag Queen" topics, all casting notices, and services for sale should all be posted there.
Hope you are enjoying summer so far and thanks for checking in from points near and far. This weekend, we inplemented a much-needed change in the way NYC clubs and events are listed and discussed here.
When the boards began, and for our first few years, most events posted and discussed in our NYC Nightclubs and Events forum were nights that many Motherboarders would and did attend themselves, if they weren't busy producing and/or performing at them!
The promotion of ALTERNATIVE nightlife here in NYC has always been our stated aim. The boards have grown tenfold from those early days, when every party listed was fabulous, or at least interesting.
In the past few years, many of nightlife's most persistent promoters (and a few of its most tiresome spammers) have found The Motherboards, and posted their events in the forum, as well as a few nights so wrong for our core and even visiting audience that extra angst ensued.
As long as the rules are followed, we are more than happy to have all manner of nights listed in NYC Nightclubs and Events. But as a service to our core audience (who ARE these boards!) we've just launched a moderated forum, THE EDGE OF NIGHT, which is now the first forum in our list.
All new topics in THE EDGE OF NIGHT must pass one of our moderators before it goes live. (Frequent posters whose events are always of interest are being exempted, as are our Board Members.) Space in the forum is reserved for nights and events that our frequent posters and long-time members actually recommend or would attend themselves.
So this way our most cherished core members, visitors looking for true NYC nightlife alternatives AND those just looking for a night out, will all be able to find what they want.
Please leave any questions about the change in this thread, and thanks to the community members who weighed in on this problem and solution.
