Willie is one of my favorite all-time scenesters in NYC. He IS NYC. There are disputes over who first brought vogueing to the mainstream, but Willie definitely played a large part in it. He's one of the warmest people to ever light up NY nightlife. I'm deeply saddened to hear that he's ill and know that if you've encountered his magic, you'll want to come out and support this.

I guess if there was one person who brought vouguing to the masses it would be Willie Ninja.
He is truly legendary in a world of legends.

Willie was the first voguer I ever saw in NYC. He is a great legend. Sending him beams of love for his recovery.

oh no... it WAS Madonna who started Voguing.. (sorry had to say that) the $ Esther made from stealing from Willie she could open a bleedin hospital for him. Someone should put THAT in the media...

The old school club community is really coming together, thanks to Don Welch and Barbara Tucker of the Underground Network. Louie Vega spinning, along with music on other floors by Jeannie Hopper, DJ Skribble, Chip Chop Gonzalez. Performances by the Queen of House Miss Barbara Tucker, Althea McQueen, Kevin Aviance, Antony Lamont, Darryl D'Bonneau, and Lady Bunny! Also a fashion show by Willie's old cohort Adrian Extravaganza, now of design firm Nico and Adrian. Doors open at 8:00 so with this many performers the show should start at 10:00. I suspect that the special surprise star might be India, who was one of clubland's finest vocalists before she switched over to her platinum salsa career.
