Amazing party last night!
I wish some of the troops could have been there.
(Bobby, S'tan, etc.)

The shows were ALL fab. They really were.

But La'Mady still has me gagging today.
When they came out in those matching black smocks and barrets and did their Beatnick Poety Slam...
I almost threw up with happiness.

Xmas For the Rest Of Us At Rapture!

Are you, like 3/4 of the world's population, not a celebrator of the traditional Christmas holiday? Or perhaps you are an orphan or have a personality so despicable you have no one to celebrate with? Well, come watch movies with us at Rapture! And it's free!

On Christmas Day, Tuesday Dec 25th, Baby K and Hattie Hathaway will have a gooey Jew-y christmas gathering, watch two fabulous films, order chinese food and drink mulled cider oy-- vey!

Rapture Cafe Will Be Open Noon till 8PM... ish
200 Ave A between 12th and 13th
Films start at 4pm
we will show three goodies...

PIE IN THE SKY: The Bridget Berlin Story, is the documentary about Andy Warhol's "Rubenesque" and brilliant superstar, Bridget Polk. The famous "Key Lime Pie Slip" scene is enough to make everyone truly relish overeating for the holidays!

MAESTRO is a feature film documentary capturing the intense experiences of the people who were responsible for underground dance music that influenced the world. Most film documents of this movement have fallen short of its true story and impact to the world, providing us with a glossed over account of the time. Opting for a more personal and candid approach, MAESTRO shows the true history of its individuals. Tracing the underground's dance origin, MAESTRO brings out a true, candid and tragic understanding of this intense lifestyle, and the lives they lived-- and died-- for. It is far from mere nostalgia, this film brings to life the music and experiences it chronicles.

AND
TEAM AMERICA from the creators of South Park - you will laugh your ass off plus you will see puppet sex!

HAPPY HOLIDAZE!!

Last night's opening of Boy's Room @ Rapture was fierce! (I left at 5AM I'm ashamed to say).
Really fun and the best crowd I've seen in a long time.

Who knew Bingo could be so kooky? Since debuting at Rapture this fall, the weekly game night hosted by wisecracking (and bickering) duo Linda Simpson and Murray Hill has become quite the fun-filled event. There are plenty of prizes to be won—some silly, some superb—as well as added attractions like ridiculous dares (many involving a triple-D bra), “friendship rounds,” a brightly-colored mystery bag (no, not Linda) and fab spokemodels such as burlesque babe Dirty Martini. Stay until the end of the night for the climatic cash round (often over $100) or just pop in for a few games. You’re sure to have a riot at this very unique affair!

The Hysterical Festival Presents a Fundraiser
The Rage Of Aquarius IV: "Someone Left the Cake Out in the Rain..."
$15 Donation

Comedy, Celebration, and Cake. Fierce Female Fun Featuring...
Pat Candaras, Bridget Everett, Negin Farsad, Julie Klausner, Sara Schaefer, Livia Scott, and hula-hoop artiste Miss Saturn. Hosted by the birthday broad herself, Desiree Burch.

The Hysterical Festival is a celebration of fearless female humor launching in New York City in Fall 2008. Showcasing the wide range of ways in which women are hilarious, we aim to both entertain and break new ground for women in the comedic arts.

Serving up women's unique perspectives on sex, politics, contemporary life - and possibly even airline food — the festival will create opportunities for up-and-coming talent and honor the ground-breaking women comedians who paved the way. The Hysterical Festival aims to unite and expand the community of female artists and their fans and encourage the development of women's humor, wit and self-expression.

Past women's comedy festivals have focused almost exclusively on standup comedy -- and have come and gone after a few years. In their wake, The Hysterical Festival is setting out to celebrate the wide range of forms in which female comedic expression can make people laugh, think and pee their pants, creating a lasting institution for the support and encouragement of hilarious and powerful feminine points of view.

The Hysterical Festival is the brainchild of comedian/producer Desiree Burch and a series of Sunday afternoon mimosas. Hanging out with a group of female comedians sharing stories, eating junk food and getting bombed way too early in the day, the idea came to her: what if this camaraderie could lead to a comedy revolution? What if what came naturally to her and her friends could change the face of comedy - forever? It might look something like empowerment with a sense of humor. Sexy. Dangerous. Hysterical.

Mardi Gras!
Staged Reading: Blanche Survives Katrina In A FEMA Trailer Named Desire by Mark Sam Rosenthal
$10. For Reading/Free Admisssion After

BLANCHE SURVIVES KATRINA IN A FEMA TRAILER NAMED DESIRE
Written and performed by Mark Sam Rosenthal
Directed by Todd Parmley
Celebrate Mardi Gras with a real New Orleans legend: Blanche DuBois. Arrive at 8pm for booze, beads, and boobies, and then at 9pm hear Mark Sam Rosenthal read his hilarious new solo show, Blanche Survives Katrina in a FEMA Trailer Named Desire. (Yes, it is about what you think it’s about.) Help us get some money in the gumbo pot so we can stir up a future full-scale production of this crazy show! Afterwards, stay to dance and debauch, Big Easy style.
Imagine Tennessee Williams’ tragic heroine, Blanche DuBois, has neither aged nor left New Orleans. She was there when Katrina hit; she was sent to the Superdome; she was evacuated to Shreveport and entangled in the heartless bureaucracy of FEMA. She gets involved with drugs, is adopted by an Arizona megachurch, and is ‘job-placed’ at a Popeye’s cash register – having for good reason been permanently barred from teaching young schoolboys. Hers is a refugee story whose politics and pathos you have read but one you've never experienced through the eyes of the desperately deliberately fragile, alcoholic, codependent, sex-addicted Blanche DuBois – America’s most broken woman.

About last night...

I notice that nobody even knows where to begin.

Well, picture Nancy Isla at 5:30 AM laid out like that on a table at Odessa.
And Sweetie, Daniel Nardicio and I eating breakfast on her ass as Mr. Joe, Squeeze Box Ronnie, Ahmed, Hattie and Miss Ginger sat at The Phoenix.

I remember most everything up to the Phoenix. Then it's all a blackout. Anyone know how I got in my apt?

Last night was Messy old school style. Meaning 9 people witnessed myself and Hattie soused and warbling into mic's. At one point I was dragged across the floor by the feet of my pantyhose. i love NY.

Sweetie and I carried you home.
How you got your girdle off is anyone's guess.

You and I left the girls at The Phoenix.
I walked you into Odessa where Sweetie and "The Dooch" were having breakfast at about 5:30 AM.
You were still wearing your stewardess uniform and had a crack pipe stuck in your wig.
You were a big hit with the waiters.

I'm sure you are wondering where your DJ stuff is...
I made you leave it at Rapture.

Your coat is there as well.
Why you wouldn't take it last night is a mystery but I was not going to fight with you Isla.
And yes, you regretted not taking it and froze your ass off.

BTW
I was the one who dragged you across the floor by your panty hose.
Mr. Joe got pictures.

Good times.

Yes, Empress. Last night's show was one for the books. The young upstarts shining right alongside the stalwarts. As Hatches pointed out so eloquently last night, some of these kids have been drawn to Rapture to work and create; it is in this haven where the increasingly lost art of conversation and human interaction are encouraged we are discovering some great new voices. Future "Footstool"s of the world keep finding their way to our little stage.

The incomparable Sherry Vine blew the packed crowd away last night, as did Jonny McGovern with a new piece on his desperate and hilarious teenage search for homo porn, and Joe.My.God. did a wonderful bit on IML.

I just came across this youtube vid of the breathtaking Robbyne Kaamil delivering her gospel-infused Reading for Filth back in December.
