Sorry, I was trying to merge the party topic in with this one and deleted instead. I just thought it was weird to have two unisex discussions going. Oops!

So please continue the conversation here - and again, thanks to everyone who came out and here's to lots more fun nights at Unisex..

The night had two great DJs, starting with Tikka Masala who did no beat-matching, a lot of cool hybrids, and some hip-hop inflected, dancehall inflected and sort of punk-dance inflected tracks. There's an art to making the transitions work without the beat matching, so that the next track makes you want to jump, and so does the next and the next etc.

His set was why I did that 2-beat-long pounding rhythm in mine.

Then O great DJ Johnny Dynell, whom I had not heard through all my hermetic days away from the scene, so not for a lonnng time. He brought on the Disco, as discussed earlier a general sense of the word spanning decades, with classy beat matching and such an expansive, luxurious feel. daddy, what is that track with the Kraftwerk keyboard riff? I was swooning. The track strikes me downright profound and I had heard it before. Did you start with an "I'm Too Sexy" remix of some kind?

Or maybe it was the wee bit of smooching I had with a very lovely person who self-introduced downstairs as I was striking my gear. That leaves a glow also.

I'm so glad that I made it to go to MB holiday party! It's been a while for me to see many MB gangs at a time, and it always makes me miss MOTHER SO MUCH Fierce People***
And the venue... it was such a great space!
I know the party was holiday special... but please don't say that the next one is too far...

OMG! Has it already been two weeks since the Motherboards party at UNISEX!? Forgive my slow response time here. I just want to thank Johnny and Chi Chi for choosing to have the party at UNISEX SALON -- They have both been so supportive and encouraging. It means a lot when James and I are both pinching pennies while we try to build the party. At the moment it's like a full time job with the equivalent compensation of shaking a cup for passersby on the sidewalk! Hahahah! But the response from people has been very encouraging, and it was great to see so many of you from the boards. I hope I will get to see some of you again in the coming weeks.
