I've heard of DJ Nonames before.
I think he must be pretty good.
That's one of the things that I love about the UK, their love of a "scene".
If three people are standing on a corner and all happen to be wearing red shirts...
It's a movement!
The Face, ID Magazine, countless blogs and websites will all pronounce red shirts the new thing.
Then just as fast as red shirts come in, they will be ridiculed the next day by the same people as tired.
The UK has created more genres of music than anyone.
"Dubstep", "Grime", "UK Garage" -not to be confused with "Speed Garage" or plain "Garage" or "New York Garage" or God forbid "Garage Band".
It's all a lot of fun I have to admit.
It's much more fun to belong to a movement -like "Grime" or "Dubstep".
But...
The downside of all this is that nothing ever really gets a chance to develop.
People are over it and on to something new before it really becomes something.
In New York, something like the "Ball House", "Voguing" scene ("Paris is Burning" etc.) developed over 30 years! It is still alive and developing today. Madonna has come and gone but the kids are still Voguing to the death at balls. The houses are still alive.
The Brits are very good at marketing and that's why London is always so much fun.
There is always something "new".
I know what "Dubstep" is but now I have to find out about "Grime" before it's too late.
Anna Nicole,
What say you?
