LAST EXIT TO UTOPIA PARKWAY

Wanted to report to all the faithful that THE JACKIE FACTORY's long-running UTOPIA PARKWAY weekly at CROBAR has come to an end. Producer CHI CHI VALENTI will no longer be themeing and styling the room, and dancers from THE HOUSE OF DOMINATION and other Factory folk will no longer be appearing for Method Go-Go. DJ JOHNNY DYNELL is staying on in the club's REED ROOM on Saturdays, and would still love to see you on his dancefloor.

The nearly three years of Saturday nights were a rare opportunity to infuse alternative culture into a modern Big Club - and we are justifiably proud of that effort. As Utopia Parkway moves on, we'd like to thank the Crobar management and staff who added so much to this body of work - most notably KENNY and CAL, CHERIE FORTIS, NICKY BALESTRIERI, ALEX ORLOVSKY and of course MICHAEL TRONN. We are also grateful to the hundreds of dancers, performers, crew and costumers who brought the thing to life, most especially HOUSE OF DOMINATION legends AMBER RAY, CYBERIA, VANGELINE, COCO, JESSICA RABBIT, CATWALK, NYX, HEAVEN LEIGH and LOVE LEIGH. Thank you! And we look forward to the next iteration.

REED ROOM SATURDAYS @ CROBAR 530 WEST 28TH STREET (between
10th and 11th Avenues)
www.crobar.com

For Johnny's guestlist: Email us at eventnews@jackiefactory.com by 5 PM on Saturdays to request inclusion on that week's list (and please include a full name). Guest list closes at 1 AM, and is not always available depending on special events.

I am sorry to hear this but I must say its interesting timing. A friend just emailed this to me from today's PAGE 6

quote:

NYPOST
November 17, 2006 -- CROBAR owners Kenny Smith and Cal Fortis may be forced to say goodbye to
their West Chelsea nightclub. Page Six hears its financial backers - described as "tough-guy Greeks who wear track suits and flashy jewelry" (including one "real b-buster" ironically called "Little Tommy") - are pulling the plug. Smith and Fortis have two other Crobars, one in Miami and one in Chicago, but our tipster assures us they are "being pushed out" of New York. Crobar did not respond to calls.

Just a coincidence or does one thing have to do with the other?

I am sorry to hear this. But I must say that I am extremely proud to have been a part of Utopia for as long as I was, and that I was a part of the history it was (God bless the Asian Rope Bondage night!!!!! Wink). Love you guys, hope to see you soon.

Yes I am, as my famous line states "Don't let the suit fool you"! But I don't come close to you Daddy, which is why I love being around you. If I am going to learn, it's got to be from the Master himself!

Empress, I can't wait to see what you do next!

Obviously a loss for the party on Saturday. But maybe, considering the anecdotal info on dwindled attendance at the club on other nights, a good time to exit for wilder situations. It was great fun and also interesting to see the Jackie aesthetic dominating such a commercial mainstream club party. You all did it with such ease, total consistency, enjoyment, and that amazing level of energy. And what better proof of your genius than the total respect the other club staff gave to you.

Pretty dumb for the club to do this with the holidays coming.

I raise my Jack and puff a few fat rings in tribute to your purplehot spectaclestorm.

And as for you Daddy, what you got going with those Greeks -you set Messy Bonnie Rait on them!

Never knew it would be my last time so I'm especially glad I got to climb back on the Reed Room platforms during my last NY jaunt. Back in London now and when so far it's comforting to think of people, places and things as never changing. Yet they do. Anyways, I wanna send thanks out to Chi Chi and Johnny for a bundle of opportunities to dream up wicked costumes with which to scare the drunken few.

Beyond that working Crobar will always make me think of the week JZ and I spent in our apartment, backs to the wall, tip-toeing around a huge, seemingly never drying, paper mache mushroom. The theme was wonderland and I think I burnt out two hairdryers becoming the caterpillar atop that mache mushroom.

Mr. Alligator I remember your other appearances on the platforms, all amazing.

But I liked when the place first opened and Daddy's DJ booth was up above the Reed Room bar in a hidden balcony where no one could see him. Access was through a small three foot trap door in the main room second floor stairway, which when you entered had everyone in the club looking at you like you were from Alice in Wonderland. Because of the peculiarly adapted architecture of the place the west wall of the lower floor women's room did not fully extend to the ceiling in back of the Reed Room bar. So standing in Daddy's balcony you could just glance over and down on to every patron visiting the women's -how naughty. The balcony was dark and invisible to the Reed Room which meant visits by the likes of Dale Devere etc. were common -and so the real party antics up there were xtra enjoyable.

I believe that I had the most fun out of everyone in the DJ booth on top of the "Water Tower". Of course that was after we moved Daddy down to the floor. Amazing memories abound none the less!!!!!!!!!

But I am still curious to know about the used condoms, and the blow up sex doll. That we found up there one night after one of the "C*nt" parties. Any takers?????
