Due to the mysterious closing of Le Royale on Sunday night we will no longer be hosting and toasting party-goers at this particular West Village Maison. Before the curtain went up for the long awaited Jewel Box, curated by Chi Chi Valenti and Johnny Dynell, a call to close the doors came from a Royale Staffer for reasons we are still unsure of.

I would like to keep this short and sweet and thank everyone involved in the night: Chi Chi and Johnny and the House of Domination; those who came out to support; friends who rushed from their Oscar parties only to be greet by an iron curtain; and those who continued on with us to Little Branch across the street for yummy cocktails that soothed out spirits.

REAL JEWELS, COUNTERFEIT SETTING

As you may know, we've been toying with a new club concept lately - THE JEWEL BOX - and invited you all down to LE ROYALE on Oscar Night for a preview. Then, we had one of the weirdest experiences ever in twenty years of putting on NYC club events. The management came in fifteen minutes after the shows began at midnight and shut the place down - no explanation, then or afterwards, except "This has nothing to do with you". Ah, but it does: Our only regret was that so many of you came out to a locked gate, looking so fabulous (as reported by the fifty or so who regrouped across the street at LITTLE BRANCH.)

THE JEWEL BOX idea looked beautiful even for those fifteen minutes, and so did you. Thanks to NICKY, PATRICK, THE HOUSE OF DOMINATION, LADYFAG, MISS UNDERSTOOD and SEQUINETTE, and all our glamourpuss attendees. Obviously we would never invite you back to a venue so ill-mannered, so we will not be putting up any more editions of THE JEWEL BOX there. We will be back in another location soon after our upcoming trip to SAN FRANCISCO to launch a new monthly.

So, though this edition of THE JEWEL BOX was barely a New York Minute, we still were very happy with how the concept worked, and the glam turnout as well. So expect a new iteration soon!
