Elizabeth Bathory married Count Ferencz Nadasdy at the age of 15 and was soon left alone in their mountaintop fortress as her husband pursued his passion for war. When not busy admiring her own beauty, she seduced young men and entertained herself with her bisexual aunt, Countess Klara. She trained in the arts of Black Magic under an old maid, who soon became her assistant. Then, with the additional complicity of her manservant Johannes Ujvary, her nurse Iloona Joo and her maid and sometime lover Anna Darvula, Elizabeth inflicted exquisite and unspeakable torture upon young handmaidens, eventually killing them and bathing in their blood. She met her end face down on the cold flagstone of her Castle Csejthe, where she had been walled inside as punishment for her many murders.
