As part of the Howl festival the show last year drew by far the largest crowd of all festival events -it was like an engorged genital that made the whip cream irrelevant.
Well, last year 5,000 people showed up in the park, and the event was way underpublicized. I thought then that if they did it again next year there would be 10,000 just like the last year it was done in T2 before moving to the west side piers. The only thing is the bushera crowd is not anywhere near glam at all and it really is a big let down. But the stage show itself has no real equal. So be ready to be a sardine in that crowd and get blasted by another whacked show.

The "Lady" Bunny should be deified for bringing the incomparable Barbara Patterson Lloyd out of retirement!

Last year was really fun. I am out of town this year. Going to my first ever (that I will attend) class reunion. It's my 20th, so I am kinda curious. Hope everyone has a great Wigstock day!!

Is there a party after the event like there was at Webster's hall a few years ago?

Queenmother.tv is doing a party at Crobar later that night as a Wigstock tribute. More trannies than you can shake a stick at. As far as an official after party... ?????

That's just the question I was going to ask. I'm still gonna head over since I live so close. If they do cancel are people doing anything instead at a bar or anything?

Report from the soggy park-
Johnny just got there and says Wigstock is going on - not a big crowd yet and they all have umbrellas, but the shows should be incredible regardless.
Might want to leave the stilettos home, tho...very muddy!

Yep - the show went on.
I was surprised by just how many turned out in the wet park and it was awesome. Watching Wigstock unfold was like letting out a big sigh and being at peace for two hours. If I had to pick a fav performance I think it would have to be Murray Hill's rendition of "I Will Always Love You." Although Diandra's high kick that launched her high heel into the crowd will be with me forever. That shoe rocketed so far, parting the crowd and fortunately was caught by an eager reveller. But for a brief second the lives of many flashed before collective eyes. Boy's track with Cazwell was also awesome. Does anybody know if they are planning to record?

The best thing about this version of the event was the crowd had improved so much over last year's revival. This time there was a high quotient of colorful partiers in attendance and that made all the difference. The rain kept the crowd down to maybe about 2,000. And there wasn't an oppressive cop presence like there has been for many larger events in the park recently. So wigs-off to Lady Bunny. But it still would have been nice to see some performance from the Jackie Factory! -I mean besides Daddy passing out invites to the Hookers Ball.
