I know this strand in the forum is for announcements and such, but I figured this place gets the most attention

.
I've been scouring this, and many other websites for a few days now in a desperate attempt to discover *real* information about the various forms of the cross-dressing subculture (be it dressing in drag, trans gender, ANYTHING).
Well that's not the right way to start off... I sound like an impersonall arse hole. I'm a senior college student in the Baltimore area, an English Secondary Education major who's studies have focussed in inner-city education. I love circa 1977 punkrock, hardcore, and pretty much can't stand what today's modern media has done to our many precious subcultures :P.
In my final year here at school I decided to take a communications class titled "Making Sense of Popular Culture". I think the title alone gives away the classes general discussion. However, for our final paper my professor has asked each of us to write about a subculture, how it relates to the so called "domiant" culture, and so on. Naturally I went right to the peer reviewed psycho-analitical articles in my school's library, but they seemed outdated and didn't give me the personal look into the world of drag. I was wondering/hoping that some of you might be able to point me in the right direction? Any possible websites I should look at or (on the internet) articles I could read would be SO GREAT. I want to get information from the very people I so humbly plan to represent in my paper.
I know this may seem a little odd, and PLEASE realize I am not trying to be offensive in any way. I'm just looking for some guidance so I can give the best representation of this facinating subculture... hope to hear from you soon (very soon, as this paper's due date is closing fast) -shamRocks
