How appropriate in this season of witches and warlocks that all the girls are stirring their cauldrons and drinking in the magic elixir...estrogen.

It is magic!

So Randella what about the Hard On Factor?? I do still enjoy intercourse with the ladies and I don't want to let them down. So does a small dose of hormons really effect this?

wasnt directed towards me, I have to say it depends on the person, it has affected me, but things can still happen. I also think it depends on how much testosterone one has. I have been on blockers for some time now

Well, Lisa, I think it really is dependent on your natural hormonal balance- like Helin said above- to start, and then it depends on the dosage you do. I would say most girls stay functional to varying degrees while on hormones.

For me, it has not been an issue over these 4 years, but I have been on low dose. To be frank, it does decrease my overall drive, and having sex once a week is usually plenty (and it takes a couple days to get the desire to have sex again afterwards), which leaves the rest of the time for other pursuits.

randella (first hi, we met you at the witching hour & it was great to meet you) - your experience on hormones is exactly like mine - & i'm a gg with unnusually high testosterone levels - if i miss a pill by half a day & take two to make up - wow am i horny! i've been on regular bc for 12+ years now, & it's gotten to the point that i can use it like viagra... just skip a day & i am off & running!

from what i know about boobs re: hormones, the genetic predisposition is important - ie, if the ladies in your family are all DDs, you can expect growth fast & they may remain once you go off. that's my betty's case - & it's not something she can risk as her male self is an actor - & you never know when that shirtless scene will be required!

as for cancer risks: with most breast cancers, there are two kinds of predispositions - genetic & environmental. if women in your family got breast cancer on the young side (pre-menopausally) that's genetic - but even if they didn't, it may be from local environmental factors... which any man growing up in the same place was exposed to. i'd recommend any guy wanting to try them find out the stats on where he grew up as well as finding out about family history

Interesting analogy about using the dosing schedule of your pills like viagra...I do the same thing with my hormone patches, perhaps both conciously and subconciously. Because of laziness, I hadn't picked mine up, so on Halloween, I was rearing to go, and with the holiday spirit and all, no wonder...

And you bring up another interesting point, and that is family history, which is a consideration, among various other things, for boys taking female hormones- alas I was adopted and didn't (nor do I want to) open that Pandora's box. I made my decision knowing that I don't know my genetic family history, and with that the potential risks that involves.

A reputable doctor makes sure that patients are taking hormones truly as an informed decision, which is why most need a note from a therapist regarding the indication for hormones, bloodwork, and so on.

And if you want a testimonial, just touch Helin's skin...I brushed up against her last night at the crowded bar at Cheez Whiz- just like velvet.

As if I needed a reinforcer for my own use of hormones, but I got it this week. I picked up my refill for my patches, which I was too lazy to do last week, and I slapped one on this week. I can't tell you how my co-workers and several patients commented to me over the week- "you look great...radiant!" "your skin glows" and so on...
and I know it is from that ole estrogen.

I spend a majority of my time in and around the cross dressing community, and it frightning to see all the girls that are experimenting with hormones. It seems to me that if you are not ready and committed to living your life as a woman you have no business taking them. It seems to be the recreational drug of choice for the ultimate femme experience. I was talking with Lisa Jackson and expressed concern for girls I knew who were taking hormones, mostly prem, for maintenence purposes - and she hit it right on the head. Taking hormones for maintenance is like taking Heroine for relaxation.

I agree that prem makes you feel great, yes I am one of those who jumped in before really being ready or committed - and that's the hook. The soft skin, waves of feminity (and for me) even orgasms - are amazing. But everyday that you take mones your body is slowly taking you a step closer to womanhood - and if your want to ride the fence that day will come where you can't go home.

After this long winded opionion, in summary - be sure it's right for you, rather than the idea of I'll try it and go from there.

This morning we were having breakfast, and I went to take my pill, when the b/f grabs the pack and says 'this queen told me that if I take some of this I'll stop growing body hair.'

This from a man who claims he wants to be a man.

Could someone pleeeaze tell me what kinda things would happen to a man taking the female contraceptive pill? Is it the same as the tranny 'mones, coz i couldn't stand him to be any crankier...i think I'll start hiding my pill...

Typical. I cant even go hetero right. I'm sure my first ever b/f is a queen. I was over visiting a friend last week, and there she was in all her glory, full face of slap, wig off, corset undone, lying on her bed. Anyways, her flatmate enters stage right, and says to me 'what are u doin going out with a guy who wears ladies underwear....Here's one we prepared earlier.' and points at Miss Krystal.

he mite be right. he wants to take eosteragen now....

If only it were so easy. Estrogen does indeed make males' body hair grow not as fast (and conversely does help with making hair on the head denser & thicker), nor as dense, but just taking the pill will not make the body hair fall off and not return (and it depends how much is there to start as well, so a hirsute male with coarser body hair will have a much harder time and have to add things like laser hair removal or electrolysis). Birth control pills are much lower doses of estrogen usually with a smidge (or a scouche) of progesterone to balance out the hormones and prevent ovulation. It is not standard for men (who want to move to a more female form) to take birth control pills as the form of estrogen...pills, the patch, and/or shots are the usual route.

My guess is though the hair issue is really a segueway for your man for different issues...and since you say he likes to wear panties, etc. there may be well some underlying gender stuff.

I have been on hormones for about 3 years, the thing is the estrogen does slow the growth but honestly.. not all that much. My Dr. prescribed me a "testosterone blocker" aldactone, or eulixen, however they wreck the body as well, to be honest things have shrunk...and not everything works like it used to. Its a big choice to make.

Dunno how much of this is fact vs fiction, but I heard 'round the traps that the cancer risks associated with the use of 'mones is countered by alcohol, and all the Aussie girls are v.v.fond of a drink. Mite have just been a tranny urban myth, but u could look into it if interested....

I know that choosing to start taking 'mones is a pretty serious decision. I was pretty much brought up by trannies in Sydney and Melbourne...they taught me how to use make up @ 14, and I've been in stillettos and slap ever since. They used to follow me around and copy the way i walk and my mannerisms, and some still do.

When I was 17 I had a brief affairette with a tranny. It was fun, you know- mummy's features and daddy's fixtures.

So I told him that the form of his body didn't change the way I felt about him. Randella, I'm pretty sure ur rite, that it proberely is gender issues. I know he represses his sexuality a lot, even with me (and nothing phases me anymore).

This morning he told me he liked cock tho... I think it's best to just have fun with this one, coz he'll proberely leave me for a man eventually. Either way, I'll be hiding my pill from now on........

"mummy's features and daddy's fixtures" = genius!

As for the cancer risk and hormones...alcohol is a risk factor for breast cancer, as it seems to increase estrogen levels somehow (and possibly toxic by products from the breakdown in the liver), but in transgendered males who take hormones, this may not be an issue, so cheers, everybody, drink up!
