hey all,
I know this is slightly off-topic, but i was wondering if you had any recommendations for places to get electrolysis done? any personal stories of success? any recommendations?
in a fit of tranny-feminization-obsession, i recently ordered a month's worth of spironolactone and estraderm patches off the internet. after a couple of weeks on and off the hormones, i've decided that i want to start clearing my face of beard cover. any suggestions on who to contact in NYC? anybody willing to vouch for said electrologist?
also, what do you all think about Callen Lordes? any opinions on their gender program? I had been attending that program for a number of months for HRT, and we did blood work and everything, but then one of the doctors prescribed mood-stabalizers (as i get sad sometimes), and i've been a bit wary of them since. actually, i haven't been back since then, but i think i may have just over-reacted a bit. anyhow, any opinions on Callen Lordes? good place? bad place? opinions?
anyhow, gotta run...

Hi Orlando. There is a great topic started already in the "Metro Guide". HAIR REMOVALYou know, The Motherboards are getting so big now and there is SO much information here. I want to remind everyone about the "Search" feature at the top of the page. For example a search for "electrolysis" or "hair removal" would have brought you there. In fact it brings up 14 different discussions.

orlando, callen lourdes is a fine place to get your healthcare needs met in a gender friendly, positive, and understanding environment. if you have insurance though, there are several good private doctors here in the city who will do the same, which is what i did.
as for hair removal...there is that topic, but i will share with you electrolysis is painful, and i gave up after likening it to slow horrendous torture (in retrospect probably the person i saw had a sadistic flair too). laser is better, and if you have light skin and dark beard, that does respond the best and is far easier, and less painful (and the cost is more initially but probably less in the long run as 4-6 treatments are long-lasting, not permanent though).
hormones will help alot with the process, and in time, you will find that you need to shave a lot less frequently.
the whole thing is a process, that is why it really is called a transition, and it depends on how far you want to go along the spectrum. the nurse's advice is take it one step at a time and see where it goes.
