I'm listening to everything I own by Ute Lemper, including the Cabaret songs in German, and All That Jazz and But One Day, old Bowie, Covenant, DJ Colette and Dj Heather's recent mix for House of Om, the new Pet Shop Boys, Nellie McKay, etc, etc.
Yeah, I love that one too, Hatches... it's so fiery and adds more heat to the already steamy air. Have you heard Punishing Kiss? I hear it's in the same vein as But One Day. Guess I'll have to order it.
These days I'm listening to the Verve Remixed CDs, as well as Nina Simone, New Order, some Critical Mass comps from Metropolis Records (which I bought in NYC and today I pulled out (just for the hell of it) the remixes of Yoko Ono's "Walking On Thin Ice"...the original was great too.
these days I've been listening to a lot of music (so why should today be any different?)-- lots of indie-rock: Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service, AFI, Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, The Killers, The Bravery, Franz Ferdinand, Also New Order, Electronic (Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr--Awesome), Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Joy Division, also, Paul Oakenfold, Dj Dan, Peter Rauhofer, Tracy Young, Ready-to-wear soundtrack, 24 Hour Party people soundtrack Peace
The new Cicada cd is turning me out so fiercely right now I suggest everyone download it from iTunes or wherever. If you're a fan of Annie (norwegian pop star not the pupil-less cartoon) you'll definitely enjoy. It's super sleak minimal pop with slightly sinister lyrics. If you're not sure yet whether to get the whole cd listen to "The Things You Said" to test it out.
By the way, I've been listening to a lot of musicals lately: The Wild Party (La Chuisa AND Lippa), the new Jacques Brel Cast album, Grey Gardens, Sunday in the Park with George (the original), Into the Woods (both Bernadette and Vanessa), The new Fanasticks Cast album the New Chorus Line, and everything on my iPod (it's on shuffle and playing Joel Grey's version of "Mister Cellophane" from Chicago)---also the new Metropolis sampler, the new DM best of, snippets of Xmas music, etc.
Ummm I forgot what a c.d. player is. Is that when a ccross dressor plays music?..but I've been listening to Rockethouse-Sound like Primal Scream when they do the electro-rock-distortion thing. Danderous Muse-Like caffeine free diet Depeche mode.

Am just loving the fact that I can download podcasts of NPR - Via NPR i just 'discovered' Joanna Newsom. Wow! I must check her out some more...love the off kilter cadence in her voice, seems her music is just a journey. Seek her out if u were like me and had no clue who she was.

Been listen to my iPod that my CD player is jealous. I put it on shuffle three days ago and I haven't touch it. 's been runnin' ever since and surprisin' me with all my old favorites. But I still listen to my CDs because I need to give the ol' iPod a rest sometimes! Plus I got some new stuff to listen to and the CDs are gettingpissedof that theyb aren't receiving any attention from me! and also, jonomar, "a cross dresser that plays music," funny!
Andrea, turns out that Johanna Newsom is genius SF mayor Gavin Newsom's sister... Also the brilliant Van Dyke Parks did the orchestrations on her new recording... enough for me-- I will have to check her out.

She's sort of this srange fairy tale character somehow a cross between Tom Waitts, Bjork, Joni in some pre-Raphalite painting.... just try her.. there's quite a few samples on itunes... but sadly not this one track that All Songs Considered (on podcast) played with her (she hosted the show and that too can be found on itunes podcasts).
