Any secrets/procedures at all to cover large pores, redness, blemishes, ravages of acne as it leaves its tell-tale signs of war accross a lady's delicate face. Is it realistic to buy porcelain skin and not just cover it up with miracle makeup. Can amanda lepore's skin be paid for...how does she manage to make it look so damn alabaster and silky smooth? ..inquiring minds want to know.

Hon, who knows. But I will say Amanda's skin is FLAWLESS. Right before Pat Field's closed on 8th Street I was in there one day. Amanda was standing near the window with natural sunlight pouring in at about 3 in the afternoon and I was standing about 2 feet away from her. Her skin was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT, no blemishes, wrinkles, pits NOTHING!!!!!!!! And it did have a very plastic baby doll quality. Mind you this was not in a darkened club at 4 a.m. -- it was broad daylight and up close. I tried not to stare but I couldn't help it. How does one achieve that?

I know what you mean about Amanda's skin.
(and I have seen it many times in broad daylight with no make-up)
It's transparent.

Her skin is amazing. I tell you, that girl has got secrets! (beauty that is). Anyhoo I figured it was worth a shot asking. I'll go back to the drawing board and hit up a mac counter with a credit card and a dream.

My two cents (for what its worth) is skin is one of those genetic things... i really don't think you can really improve it (unless you have bad acne or smt major that CAN be improved) ,,, but that INNER GLOW thing.... is just genetic... nowt you can do... all that shite about drinking lots of water ...(how many of us have tried that )... i don't break out but my skin is lardy/corned beef and other than taking medication for Rosacea (which i would never do.. medicate my whole body just cos i have crap skin... nah) theres little more than foundation.... good coverage... i even tried that Derma Blend (you can get it in Macys) that is used for port wine marks etc... good coverage... Mac is great too...and for a cheapie, L'oreal I also find to be good coverage... But that inner glow... probably a combo of high estrogen, strong meds and facial peels.... wish ya luck... (big Irish red faced git here)

There is a product I swear by "caudilie", it is french and comprises of crushed grape seeds. It is relatively in expensive in French but you can get it here for over double the price at Barneys...It is honestly the best cream/facial product I have ever used and really does give you a glow. check it out.

the impressionable youth in me who read Ms Susann's book way back when will never forget the spooge-as-facial kept in the fridge part in the novel...and you know pretty much everything in her books was taken from her gossip with girlfriends in and around the biz, so somebody is/was doing it.

it supposedly tightens everything up and makes the skin smooth as silk.

Ahh the things we do for beauty... and I haven't even scratched the surface. It's depressing but I can't rely on my youth forever.

Spooge eh, I'll keep that in mind lol it sounds cheaper than some of the cosmetic procedures I've read in the plastic surgery forum.

Pr sweetie, try going and getting a good facial. I know of a good place. lol Go to Aveda on spring st. & 6th ave, they do facials.. I learned how yto do them today. See the thing is about wanting "good" skin... you have to really take care of your skin and see what works for you. Facials dont heal all skin ailments, but what it does is it will almost give you like a fresh start then its up to you to keep it up, good luck!! Peace love and hair grease! Razz

Good Bye, with faery kisses & faery dust....

I've often asked many people who have flawless skin...models,escorts,priests, vampires, ghosts, and Amanda...the secrets of their sucess. Here is what i've found.
1. Sleep. Lots of it- from 8 to 12 hours,Ambien helps. I know 1st hand.
2. SPF 210-No sun. Sleep under Grand Central.
3. Moisturize. Fatty foods help, rub the grease on your face.
4. Good genes.
5.If no good genes, prayer helps.
6. Leatherface did not have good skin himself, He found out the method of using other's skin sew together made into a mask helped for him. It is cheaper than any other cosmetic feature around, just don't get caught. Young skin helps, try a day care center and lure them with candy.
7. If all else fails, pray.

That's all i know about the subject.

I just purchased a home microdermabrasion kit from skinstore.com called dermanew and so far it works great. I did 8 treatments and I can really see the difference, and it's alot cheaper than going to a spa or plastic surgeon's office(155 for the whole kit). It doesn't cure deep scars but will eliminate fine lines and you can concentrate on the problem areas on your skin. About 6 or 7 treatments of the home kit are 1 at a plastic surgeons office, if they go deep.

I've resigned myself to going to a voodoo doctor. We'll sacrifice a soy chicken and chant to some victor calderone with lit aromatic candles and incense while flying high on herb. I'm taking the holistic route. If it doesn't work then at least it sounds like fun trying. Wink

Not nec. a TV topic but.... nice skin....... Just had microdermabrasion.... wow... after just ONE session I really noticed the difference...
it's expensive - $140 per session.... but would love to go again next month ... as I really felt that it took that tired dead look off me gob... also let my skin drink up more moisture and oxygenate ... really ... it looks healthier (younger)... just went to a lil cheapo but nice neighbourhood place on 14th btw 2/3rd... wasn't the most relaxing facial (it felt like someone rubbing nail files over your face!) but didn't leave redness or anything.... but i really have noticed a difference.... also have decided i HAVE TO start using EYE CREAM now... am beggining to really notice big lines! Was recommended pure Jojoba oil as a moisture but use a glyco type cream on my nose and chin (this removes enlarged pores/blackheads) ... anyone else got ideas advice... think have to take care of me skin this year... not gettin any younger..! Bah!
