Dragstory 101

Thought it would be cool to start a topic focusing on how everyone got their start - i.e. what influenced/influences you the most, the first time you went out in drag, and what kept you going. I always love hearing everyones story -and I will share my drab one after someone else starts smile Plus - it's always good and healthy to be vain and talk about yourself...

Nicky,
There already is a topic about "first times in drag". Let's start a part 2.

I found my grandmother's wigs from the 60s. They were amazing. I found them in August and could not wait for Halloween. I styled them every day in the bathroom. Lots of Aquanet. I have a picture from Halloween of that year. I will scan it and post very soon! Ah, memories....

I was really into Halloween. In 7th grade my friend Mike and I dressed as bag ladies. We raided one of those Salvation Army drop-off bins in a suburban parking lot. We went to the party at the "Levittown Roller Rink" and won Most Humorous Costume! The prize was a digital watch!

In 12th grade I went to school as Boy George for Halloween. I asked my friend's sister to do my makeup. I was naive enough to think that some Levittown chick knew anything about fierce makeup. I looked more like Dee Snider of Twisted Sister. In the hallway between classes I strapped a boombox to myself and walked through the halls lip-synching to "I'll Tumble 4 U."

My first stage performance? I was Roseanne Roseannadana in my high school variety show.

Hmm...

Satori - Middle School, theme - dress as your favorite pop star(s).

Since I wasn't going to pull off "Midnight Star" I wore my mom's silk oriental shirt with big baggy tuxedo pants and a hat with a bunch of beads hanging off the brim. Also Boy George. My mother did my make-up and sent me off to the dance. I was approached by one of the Judges and asked what (not who) I was. I explained, and she handed me an expired certificate for an Arby's Roast Beef sandwich.

Zazoo -- Nearest we can figure it started at age 3. We found a picture of him about that age with a Tupperware bowl on his head. Then there were about 75 pictures of him in costumes. We did some quick math and figured there were far fewer Halloweens than that in his childhood.

hmmmm.

After those young years, we basically grew up together...so we have a lot of the same influences, heroes and inspirations:

Jim Henson,Doctor Seuss,Pete Burns,Nina Hagen, John Waters, Tim Burton, Marc Chagall,Andy Warhol,Leigh Bowery. Just to name a few.

We are both also constantly inspired by the contemporary.

Great topic!
Very fun reading
XXXOOO

I guess I have always admired women and their clothes, and stockings and shoes.

One day I was at P-Town at Cape Cod on vacation. We went to this cabaret/bar, and I saw a couple of CD's, and I have to admit....I fell in love with them and also with the idea of dressing up.

Was about 6 years old and saw Mom's pantyhose hangin in the bathroom. Couldn't resist and was hooked from that point forward.

Unfortunately by the time I found the wedding dress, I was a little to big for it. It ripped a little and I had a lot of trouble getting out of it.

That was about 15 years ago and I don't think she's noticed. At least she hasn't said anything:)

I got my start after finding some old Elmer Batters magazine shoots as a kid. I started fantasizing about feet/legs in nylons and even
stole a pair from a friend's mom and wore them to mimick the sexy foot poses as I masturbated. I eventually came to like my legs in them, especially as I began growing muscular thighs and calves from running and weights. The rest was a natural progression.

PLUS my older half sisters used to tickle and tie me up which led to my bondage fascination.
