I love Goths, can't get enough of em, or them freaky sexy fabulous music, and I do want to fuck Trent Reznor like an animal. But I hate the New York Post for trying to make it mainstream and cool, and I saw that Hot Topic, according to Seventeen magazine is a cool place for teens to work. Now I love to get me some Hot Topic gear. But the Post is just a big fucking succubus that is like a leech that sucks the cool out of everything. And taking the secret underworld of Goth culture and telling everyone wear this go there becuase it's the new craze! Still , I still feel like listening to Rammstein! I mean please, I was somewhat Goth my whole life! I mean give me a break!
darling, what is the difference between Hot Topic and the New York Post? Neither have anything to do with goth, and neither is capable of killing it. Goth is a state of mind. In some ways it's like Catholicism, you can never really recover from it. I remember a job applicant coming to me for an interview one time. Dressed in head to toe Dior, all beige in color. She was a knockout. She looked quite normal, albeit very glamorous. But there was something about her, a subtly too-dark shade of lipstick gave her away. A recovering goth! (I asked what her favorite music was.) So don't worry about the mass-marketization. Just don't mix baggy pants and lollipops with a goth aesthetic! If anything, it's this ridiculous raverization that's put an unwelcome black mark on the goth kids of today. IMO.
Yeah! Work TCL! I know that their are some of us who were Goth before Hot Topic and The Post Started to sell the "subculture" (whatever that is) as something cool and fashionable. Some of the new Goths don't even know who Joy Division and Bauhaus are, for Christ's sake!
