I have to say that I am pretty impressed with what I have seen done in Mexico. Another friend (Mike this is our mutual friend) came back this past week with her chin and breasts done. Though swollen & bruised, the chin looks great and the scar is almost imperceptible underneath the steristrips. Her boobs are pretty amazing- round, nipples straight on and symmetric, and nicely placed (though they will drop as they settle).
I was pleased to hear that the nursing care postop was very positive afterwards, which was a pleasant surprise.
And apparently these trips are quite the cost-effective measure, so food for thought for all of us interested in some cosmetic improvements.

What about surgical quality assurance? Is there any instances of surgical disease transmission?

Since we are all on the subject of Surgery..has Anyone heard of a Dr. Toby Meltzer in Oregon? Is he any good? One of my best friends is having SRS in about 11mo and my date is a little farther down the line, but just looking at my options down the road.....Also which do you think is better: Laser or Electrolysis? and how well does Laser Really work on people of Colour? Personally, I went to a place about 50 mi from where I live, but the results lasted for Months...prety good, but does anyone know the LONG term effects? as in "after the initial 6-8 treatments, how often would one have to get a touch-up? Anyhoo..gotta go..and Sorry to anyone who was offended by my earlier posts in other forums..I guess I just needed to vent( that time of the month, you know). Buh-Bye! 'Tessa

Did I miss something somewhere? What did you say? Well, nevermind. There is a HAIR REMOVAL topic already. It's pretty good. Check it out.

Daddy, what i know about the tanning thing is that you go a spa or salon that does it, they loofah you down, the spray the stuff on, let it dry, and it does make you golden brown (pretty nicely too)... but beware the sea salt, as it will eat that stuff right up, like the scene from Lost Horizon where the lady ages in minutes outside Shangri-la, and that is what the sea will do the spray tan. Poolside is fine though, as it is resistant to the chlorine. It lasts for about 10 days. You are right, it is expensive, so find a friend who works in a salon and make an "arrangement".
I know it is a another topic, but the laser hair removal works best on dark hair and light skin. It picks up the difference between the two and eradicates the dark hair. I did it, and it worked for my chest, but not as well on my face (blonde hair on fair skin). The lasers have improved tremendously since I did it 5 years ago. As for darked complected girls, I know Tina Sparkles had some problems 5-6 years ago with the first laser, but you would have to go for a consult to hear about the newer technology.

I am so excited! I saw the ENT doctor yesterday for documentation of a deviated septum, so hopefully my insurance will pay for its repair, and of course at same time some simple refining of my nose. There is nothing wrong with what I have, but it could be improved upon. I actually want my sister's nose, and I have a pic of the two of us from Vegas in August that shows exactly what she has, and I want. If things go as planned, I want to do this the week of Thanksgiving.
Better living through cosmetic surgery...

Well, yesterday did not work out as I had envisioned. I went to see the plastic surgeon at my work who did my eyes in 1996 and my 2nd lipo in 1995. He does the majority of the breast reconstructions for the surgeon I work with (and he also does the reconstructions for the head and neck cancer patients, so he knows how to do a nose or reconstruct one), and I have known him for the 9 years I have been at the hospital. Unfortunately, when I tried to tell him what I wanted, he just didn't get it- "but it isn't right to change your nose, you have a nice male nose, I wish I could have that as an end result..." I felt uncomfortable at that point (and another doc was in the room who I didn't know at all) in saying "I don't want a masculine nose, nor do I want a woman's nose, but something more refined, delicate, one that matches my face."
Anyway, I left there dejected, but determined. His nurse who I have also known for years told me to get some consults, and by the time I made it back to my office, I was on the phone with one of the other plastic surgeons at my work, who I know but not as well. So I see him next Wednesday, and this time I will be more specific.
What was interesting to me about this experience yesterday was my own internalized trannyphobia. I just couldn't explain to him that I just don't fit into the dichotomous categories of male/female, and I don't think he could open his mind to that place at all. And I didn't want him to think of me strangely, which is my own issue. I guess no matter how comfortable I may think I am with my gender identity, there are still times that my own trannyphobia gets in the way...
Then in my German class last night at the New School, we were talking about possessive articles, and the teacher kept talking about "all the genders" in the language- masculine, feminine, neuter, and the definite and indefinite articles. Now this is a language I can understand- almost utopian and far more egalitarian, if you think about it, and it is a shame that English doesn't incorporate these concepts...
