Looking to cast the part of Mademoiselle Diana (late 20s - 30S) an African American drag chanteuse. Diana is a celebrated artiste on the gay club circuit and has had moderate success in reality television.
Exigent Theatre will produce HENRI GABLER, an new adaptation of Ibsen's masterpiece Hedda Gabler, in March of 2009.
HENRI GABLER is the son of great American President Charles Gabler and the CEO of the Daily Gabler, a popular political science blog. Having recently returned from his honeymoon with his husband to Central America, Henri realizes that there is no road map for his life or for how he is expected to function as the husband to the rising Harvard professor. Henri's life is turned upside down when he reunites with a childhood friend. By transforming Ibsen's 19th century Hedda to a 21st century Henri the play explores a number of powerful contemporary issues such as homophobia, the failure of American democracy to equally protect all of its citizens, the alienation effect caused by religion, the difficulties of monogamy and the nature of suicide in modern life. HENRI GABLER is a challenging and scintillating drama about the moral vortex surrounding gay life in America today.
FIRST REHEARSAL: Tuesday, February 24th OPEN: Sunday March 22nd CLOSE: Sunday April 5th
HENRI GABLER is an Equity Showcase.
