How about getting some real health professionals to discuss what the transsexual or (Gender Identity Dysphoria patients) really go thru. I bet is fun to make a TV show where the viewers can feel superior to a few "nut cases".
You are right, the gay community ostracizes us just like the mainstream sector of society. What our society needs is knowledge passed on by the real authorities, who are the angels that allow us transsexuals to live happy and productive lives; not another "Freak Show".
Most of us are forced into the ridiculous ambiance of the transvestite culture because it is the only places where we can express our real gender without being stoned to death or raped without mercy or consideration.
A transsexual person is usually educated and goes thru problems and situations that deeply transcend mere sexual relations. It is a matter of living in society, of emotional and spiritual development. Yes, sex plays a part in it; but it is not even the primary goal of the transsexual person.
Living, loving, expressing oneself according to our internal pshyches and emotions; to be able to gesture the way we really feel inside, to be able to feel the sun on our smooth skin, just like the women we are, to be able to cry when we need to and to fullfil the life of our loving man as well as to be nurturing, faithful and spiritual in the bodies that really correspond to us; those are the real goals.
If you really want to do some good; quit the hypocritical bullshit. Get real medical and psychological experts to go on the air and really educate the world about a phenomena that has accompanied mankind thru history. Don't try to invade the already highly difficult and stressful lives of other human beings by making them into sensationalist freak shows. Get the real information and convey it in a professional manner. Show your class.
But, what am I saying? You already know this, don't you? You just want some poor victim to feed the hatred and the misconceptions and the misunderstandings in this "FREE" society right?
Please...

Hi Lillian - I'd like to think that "The Center" has given some support to our Community, and not just including us begrudgingly. Whatever, it is a place where we can meet in an honest environment, outside of clubs, which are kinda artificial. Ultimately, I guess, all we have is each other, and we should take a lesson from the gay / lesbian folks and support each other, and more importantly, be visible. If we are seen as not just a bunch of freaks, we will be more respected.

I'm sensing a lot of interest in our T/S - T/G community by the mainstream. There was a show on cable last month "Changing Roles", where five people changed genders (within the limits of the show). We followed them around NYC and saw their experiences. Oprah Winfrey devoted (2) shows to the T/G experience and treated the subject non-sensationally. There's a program on Discovery Health Channel tonight about transgender teens; they are the future, after all. Point is, I guess, we're getting more and quality exposure, and there seems to be a lot of interest in us in the mainstream.

Are we , politically and socially, where the gays and lesbians were twenty years ago? Lets follow their leads - they are so accepted today. Be true to each other - and more importantly, be out.
