Nerve.com has just published an excerpt from my novel, "The Naked Shopper"!!! The story is entitled "Theories," and features a pansexual, hyper-urban heroine. I'd LOVE it if motherboarders would comment on the excerpt! (There's a place for "feedback" at the end of the story on Nerve.)

"The Naked Shopper" features Penny, a graduate student in New York City, who tends to come up with complex, not necessarily logical, theories, during times of stress. In this excerpt published on Nerve, she receives a birthday spanking from her gay boyfriend, which puts her theories to rest.

I've been tooling away at my writing for years, so this is a great break for me! I'm now in the company of Mary Gaitskill, Andre Dubus III, Rick Moody, Kathryn Harrison, Jonathan Ames, Jay McInerney, Amy Hempel, Aimee Bender, A.M. Homes, J.T. Leroy, and many other greats on Nerve!

Great Karen. It is always heartening to see someone take it from the cabaret stage to another outlet especially when you don't have to subordinate your work to being presented as selfish, light entertainment.
